One thing I really liked about the story. A lot of time in romances, it seems that they "erase" every past relationship. "It wasn't true love", "He wasn't the one", "It was just lust", etc. Here, the author isn't shy to show that Harley had loved Jay and got his heart broken before, and I love that realness. We all have pasts, can we stop pretending that nobody ever fell in love before meeting THE ONE?

Don’t miss out! I LOVE PARIS, the brand new DORK DIARIES, is out now! Have you read all the DORK DIARIES series? In comes Brix, a former military man who works for Trav, the head of a company called Mike Bravo, that works in some unsavory types of cases that might involve killing and the like...except this is a special case, with Gideon, Harley's manager, being Trav's cousin who calls in a special favor. So I absolutely adored Brix, his bodyguard turned lover, because he saw underneath the exterior and into the heart which was just itching to have someone think he was enough. And Harley was perfect for Brix, he wants to be able to give up control so he doesn't have to think about the complications of being ex-military, his financial issues, his pressures and responsibilities. Welcome to Nikki Maxwell's aDORKable world in the third book in the mega-selling Dork Diaries series – now with over 50 million copies in print worldwide! And when he shows up, he not only screams badass, he’s another B word I try to stay away from: boyfriend material.

Would I recommend this? Yes, if you like Finley‘s books. No, if this is your first book by this author. (Start with Fake Out.)

There was no rest of the audience; they’d already moved on. Vega herself had done nothing wrong here, but rather done things a little too right. The industry had taken note of her earlier success, reminding them of the marketable power of a singer in touch with her emotions, and so had invested in a new batch: Sinéad O’Connor, Tanita Tikaram, Tracy Chapman. These artists rendered the scene’s godmother abruptly superfluous. The setting of this story kind of has two sides to it. It has a music/pop star side (which will continue with Spotlight) and a bodyguard/secret military agency side (which will continue with Iris). Both of these sides were fun, and the mix of the two made sure that there was more variety in the story than there would have otherwise been. I’m wondering when normal people go shopping, who’s there to tell you to stay away from the candy?” My feet move in the direction of delicious treats. The midlife pop star’s best virtue, then, is patience, and the conviction that the best might be yet to come. “I’ve had an interesting first half of my life,” Williams notes. “I’d like an interesting second half, too.”

Brix and Harley have a connection right away, except Harley seemingly has a fiance and is still in the closet, controlled by his record label. But, Rowland tells me, “I just knew that I couldn’t write the same songs again, and so I never even tried.” Their new music took on an increasingly introspective tone, mournful and ruminative; not ideal for radio, in other words. The band were dropped, they split up, and the singer found solace in drugs. Whatever money he’d made was soon lost, and before a stint in rehab came the need to sign on: a profound humbling. At the dole office, his fellow unemployed recognised him and broke into a rendition of Come On Eileen, half hoping he’d join in. “I could have done without that,” he notes. I really liked these two guys together, but also separately. They had some great banter and chemistry going on and they were both very likable.

When an obsessed fan gets a bit too close (really really close) to Harley, it is time to agree with his manager and hire a personal bodyguard. What I didn't like in this book is the stalker sub-plot. I know it's the thing that made this whole story happen but I think it went a bit too far as we got closer to the end. I guess there had to be a peak for the story, but I would have been much happier if it wasn't that one. I liked this book the first time I read it, and after having Iggy Toma talk sweet nothings in my ears for a few hours, I liked it even more. Iggy Toma can do no wrong, and maybe Eden Finley can't either. I'll have to read more to make sure! We have many brilliant famous pop stars available to book for an outstanding event. One of which is Jennifer Lopez, one of the biggest stars in the industry she has had success in both the Latin and American charts and won over 130 awards in total for both her music and acting, including the Special Achievement Award from ALMA and two nominations at the Latin Grammys. She is also known for contributing to the popularity of Latin music in the late 1990’s in what is called the ‘Latin explosion’. Additionally there is ‘Princess of Pop’ Christina Aguilera, a household name in the music world she has won three Grammys and was recognised by Billboard at the 20th Most Successful Artist of the 2000s! Aguilera was also listed among the top most influential people in the world in 2013 by Time magazine, showing this pop icon has certainly made her impression on the industry. In Pop Star we get to know him a lot better and his reactons are very different. Here, it becomes clear that he's just a lonely guy, trapped by his contract, that has never been free to experience the world. But other than that, I enjoyed this immensely. At times I wish the sex scenes had been a little less rushed, but they were good and fun. These two were great together.

Their darker joint project, which was aimed this time at the young adult market, tells of a life in a devastated swampy and polluted landscape into which only boy babies are being born. Fletcher has explained the grim idea sprung from “one of those, ‘What if?’, conversations”.Protecting people is not what my company usually does, but the boss knows I need money, and the pop star is offering an insane amount to live with him and make sure no more crazy fans break into his house. Usually I'm staying away from books with bodyguards because I know they'll innevitably add a stalker or two to the plot. This time though I couldn't say no because it was a new release by Eden Finley! I hustle. Never been afraid to hustle,’ says Lisa Maffia of how she has got by after So Solid Crew imploded.
