Description

Prestone Coolant/Antifreeze contains a premium formula that guarantees protection in extreme conditions from -37°C to +129°C. How do I use Prestone Coolant/Antifreeze? To be honest, you can do it the other way around, it won’t make much difference but this way the mixing should supposedly be a bit better. Coolant/antifreeze contains ethylene glycol, an organic compound that provides antifreeze protection and increases the boiling point of water. That means, when used in a cooling system, it works to prevent freezing in cold temperatures while also protecting the engine from extreme heat, which would otherwise damage internal components. The amount of distilled water you’ll need depends on the mixture ratio. It’s usually 1:1 but best see how much you need before you start.

The variant of ethylene glycol more commonly used in coolant/antifreeze is monoethylene glycol, or MEG. Odourless and colourless, it offers excellent antifreeze properties but should always be kept away from children and animals due to its sweet taste and toxicity. Universally works with all fluid colors; All OAT, POAT, HOAT & IAT; G05®, G11®, G12®, G12++®, G13®, G30®, G40®, & GG40®. For all engines & engine sizes, new and older engines. The shelf-life of Prestone coolant/antifreeze is 5 years unopened. If you open it and leave it, there are external factors that can impact the shelf-life so we can’t advise on that once it’s opened. Prestone supply factory fitted coolant to some of the world’s largest vehicle manufacturers including Ford, Toyota and General Motors. Rather than seek approvals we offer one Prestone formula that is so technologically advanced it’s suitable for all makes, models and age of vehicle, and can be mixed safely with any coolant already in the vehicles system.

Available in ready to use and concentrated formats, Prestone coolant is tested in temperatures from -37°C to 129°C, making it suitable for all cars and driving conditions. Ready to Use formula – Prediluted 56/44. Perfect for small volume top-off or complete drain and refill of the cooling system Additional accessories are a funnel for easier pouring with less spilling. Also, if you happen to have a coolant tester, it will come in handy which you will also see later.

Free Delivery is not available for Over-Sized parcels, such as Exhausts, Radiators & Headlamps - For details on these items please see the 'Oversized Items' section below.

PRODUCTS MENTIONED IN THIS ARTICLE

Yes, you can, so long as the coolant/antifreeze you’re using is based on ethylene glycol and is free from silicates. Some car coolants contain silicates and other compounds that can be harmful to motorcycle engines, so it’s super important that you read what a product contains before adding it to your bike. Ideally, the level should always be closer to (or directly on) the ‘maximum’ mark, so if it’s dropped towards ‘minimum’, we’d recommend topping it up.

That means there’s no need to flush your car’s cooling system before adding Prestone Coolant/Antifreeze. Simply pour the product into your coolant reservoir – it’s that easy. Does coolant expire? To be clear on this part and from personal experience, It won’t cause any immediate damage, but in the long run, it can. Make sure the temperature value is within the boundaries. For instance, the coolant must not be too diluted with water as it may freeze during the winter and damage the system. Overfilling your car’s coolant/antifreeze expansion vessel isn’t a good idea. Not only can it interfere with the pressure within the system, but it can also render the filler cap ineffective while also potentially interfering with the electrics. In this part I must mention a very important tip: don’t add antifreeze concentrate directly into the system (without diluting it).

Can I mix tap water with coolant?

For this, you won’t need anything special, most of these things you probably already have around the household. So, as you’ve seen, learning how to mix antifreeze concentrate is a simple job that takes only minutes of your time. Sometimes you won’t have distilled water at hand (like on the road) and the obvious solution is to use tap water. In addition, Prestone Coolant/Antifreeze is developed using engineered technology and has been tested in the most challenging conditions, including the Sahara, so we know that it performs from -37ᵒC to 129ᵒC. Introducing Prestone high-performance Coolant/Antifreeze, the only product you need to guarantee maximum protection for your car’s engine.
