About this deal

The keepsakes in the box prompt descriptions of the lives of inspirational people, important art, design, and cultural achievements, and landmark innovations and inventions. These include construction of the Channel tunnel, the election of Margaret Thatcher – the first female prime minister – and the creation of the world wide web. The story is really well done and it is a lovely little tribute, it doesn't cover the Queens passing in the book as it was written ahead of that happening. The illustrations are lovely and whilst they are not as like like as some in the series have been they are great to tell her story. Princess Elizabeth never expected to be Queen. But when she was ten, her uncle, King Edward VIII, abdicated and everything changed… Her father took over as King, but after 15 years on the throne, he died. So when she was just 25 years old, Elizabeth was crowned Queen and became the longest-serving monarch in British history. This was a fascinating book that has so much history to learn and also terrific whimsical information that children are likely to love. The Queen loved animals, so someone sent her an Elephant named Jumbo. The illustrations are beautiful and fun and add to the special quality of this book. I definitely recommend this book for schools, libraries, and book stores. In this book from the critically acclaimed Little People, BIG DREAMS series, discover the life of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch of modern times.

As the book shows Elizabeth was an inspiration to many and she achieved a lot during her 70 years on the throne, but she was never meant to be the Queen and this book shows how her life changed and she became the heir to the throne. Of course there was much that was enjoyable, and I remember plenty of pictures of her smiling and laughing with genuine pleasure. There is no doubt that her love of country life and animals never dimmed, and one of my favourite illustrations is this one, of her beloved Balmoral Castle in Scotland. She spent her summers there every year, and it was at Balmoral that she died in early September 2022. (This was being published before her death.) This empowering series offers inspiring messages to children of all ages, in a range of formats. The board books are told in simple sentences, perfect for reading aloud to babies and toddlers. The hardcover versions present expanded stories for beginning readers. Boxed gift sets allow you to collect a selection of the books by theme. Matching games and other fun learning tools provide even more ways to make the lives of these role models accessible to children. Inside this beautifully illustrated history book for children, you will find everything from the Crown to the Corgis detailed here, including:

Through these thoughtfully selected children’s books, we aim to provide an engaging and educational journey that helps young minds learn more about the history of Queen Elizabeth II and the pivotal moments in her reign. From stories of royal life to inspiring accounts of her steadfast dedication to the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, these books offer an enriching perspective on Queen Elizabeth II’s remarkable reign and her enduring impact on history. We also have a separate list of children’s books about King Charles III. This problem is significant enough that I'm dropping a star, especially since it would have been so easy for the author to mention the Queen's faith while talking about her legacy of service. If someone is interested in a picture book biography that does mention the role of Christianity in the Queen's life, I would recommend Queen Elizabeth II: The Queen Who Choose To Serve, a recent release from a Christian publisher. However, a book should not have to come from a faith-based publisher to mention someone's deepest beliefs and values. In the story, Isabella sifts through Great Granny Joyce’s treasure box of souvenirs, which act as introductions to the contents of the book. These include recent and historical events across the United Kingdom and Commonwealth, inspirational people, landmark innovations and inventions, and a selection of the best art, design, and culture. Young children will learn more about the incredible life and faith of Britain’s longest-serving monarch and they will be inspired about the great things they can do for God. Elizabeth traveled overseas more than 250 times, receiving the most unusual gifts, from a pair of cowboy boots to an elephant called Jumbo. However, nothing felt better than sleeping on the same bed all summer at Balmoral Castle!”The story of the life of Queen Elizabeth II, told through her clothes and jewellery - and a gorgeous gift to treasure. In recent days the U.K. and across the world, many have given thanks for her life of dedicated service. Meanwhile, World War II is underway, and she trained as a driver and mechanic. After the war, when she was only twenty-one, the country celebrated her marriage to Prince Philip. The book tells us she saved her ration coupons for the fabric for her wedding dress. I thought that was a nice touch to her story.

The book will also help children understand how the four nations came together as one United Kingdom, including details such as Owain Glyndwr’s rebellion against the English in 1400 to take the title of ‘Prince of Wales’, on the journey to the Queen’s reign which continues to this day. Obsessed with Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and Archie? Do you gush over the latest photos of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s family? If you want to share your interest in the royals with your own kids, these children's books about the royal family are a great way to start. As they get older, you can also share some LOL-worthy Queen Elizabeth memes, too. If you read a lot about the Queen, you get used to a certain phrase: “she must have been feeling…[sad, happy, angry]”. The books about her are full of speculation, because so much is unknown – the late Queen Elizabeth II was a woman about whom we know everything and nothing. Authors try to convince us that they know her secrets. Best for: deep, deep dive into the Big Question about the Queen’s marriage. (Verdict: No adultery. Probably.)

The Queen Who Chose To Serve

Inspire the next generation of outstanding people who will change the world with Little People, BIG DREAMS! I am a huge fan of the books in this series and I knew that this one was due to be released before her death on 8th September 2022 so it is just good timing that it has been released now so shortly after her passing but I think it is a book that will be really of benefit. Craig Brown’s 2017 book is a very unusual biography of Princess Margaret – laugh-out-loud funny, scurrilous, and with interspersed sections of fiction. (He imagines alternate lives for her – a bit Sliding Doors). You would imagine The Family hated it, and it is occasionally uncomfortably intrusive. Best for: A good balance of gossip and authenticity, and a picture of how the Queen tried to adapt herself to modern life and her wayward family.
