Design-wise, I like how closely they kept to DadiTwins’ original design, and how it’s so immediately recognisable.
You continue with the desert island by building the shelter and adding more details. Now, we have the fishing rod with the fish, a yellow cup, cooking pan and a small fire. The raft has a pole with a white flag. There’s a rope where it can attach to the desert island as well. Two studs are on the raft so that you can put 1-2 minifigures on it. There are some fun techniques such as the Palm Trees, and how dense it is, giving the small beach section a very lived-in, survival vibe which translates well. Ray is fortunate to have been castaway on a very pleasant-looking island, with lush vegetation, colourful animals and vibrant blue sea surrounding it. He's been able to fashion a shelter from available resources and looks to have an abundant supply of fish for sustenance. As you can see it's very similar to the DadiTwins' original submission. In fact the only noticeable differences are that he has a parrot rather than a seagull for company, and he's not needed to use his trousers for a sail on the raft.

With many new sets launching during its period of availability it should not be too difficult to find something to buy to acquire it. Here, we have the LEGO Ray minifigure. He has a gray piece where he can look for things far away. Ray has a nice beard, printed torso and red shorts. His skin tone is yellow which is the traditional classic skin tone of LEGO minifigures. Judging Phase – Our judges review the entries and choose 15 entries, which will then go forward to a Fan Vote, on May 18th, 2021. There are lots of details in this set and they include 2 snakes. A yellow swim tube is also here too. There’s a nice clear beer bottle and there’s a starfish too. It’s a fun little set, with a couple of great use of parts to add unique details. The palm trees are interesting as they have the new multiple stem flower elements under each leaf, giving them extra texture. The S.O.S message is also clever, using two snake decorations often found in the NINJAGO sets as S’s and a lifesaver ring for the O. Oh, and MASSIVE shoutout to my wife for building and photographing the set while I’m away in Billund!On the side of the shelter, there’s a fishing road with a fish that is caught. A yellow cup is near the shelter for Ray to sip on. The raft can be attached to the shelter too through the rope. Here, we have already added a yellow starfish on the blue base as well as a clear bottle in the ocean. Ray received 969 votes, getting close to almost double the votes of the second highest scoring entry, Message in a Bottle by JuBex, which received 524 Votes.

After Castaway, Ron finished his training to become a qualified counsellor and over the last two decades has treated many high-profile celebrities and former contestants of reality TV shows. Roger and Rosemary Stephenson and their children Roger is now a retired GP, while Rosemary is active in the local community. Overall, I think this is a very charming GWP. There’s plenty of fun details, and I like the fishing rod, and plenty of marine life like starfish, eels (?), a crab, fish and a parrot to keep Ray company. No seagull unlike the original design but the parrot works thematically. Gift idea – This 243-piece model measures over 5 in. (14 cm) high, 7 in. (19 cm) wide and 5 in. (13 cm) deep, and makes a fun gift for adults or any LEGO® enthusiast

The design is clearly an homage to Tom Hanks’ Castaway, but there isn’t a volleyball, which was also not present in the original design. I’m not sure if that was too on the nose, but it shouldn’t be too hard to add your own Wilson volleyball (especially if you draw on one!) to the set to make it a proper Tom Hanks tribute!
