Description

Yes, in the end, we value money over human life and yes the media plays an ever increasing role in shaping our values and our perceptions—almost to the exclusion of what we observe with our own eyes. With “Amused”, the concept IS sophisticated, it IS musically enjoyable, and it IS comprehensible. That what makes this album heavily favored by Pink Floyd and Roger Waters fans. It is definitely one of Roger’s best as a solo album. But having it’s complex concept, it is not widely appreciated in the music world. Again, “simpler, the better” That is why there are so many people who appreciate The Beatles, they are easy, fun, and happy to listen to. Most do not like to think when they listen to music, and that is so not right what-so-ever. “Is this the life we really want” is a whole different story. Wow was my first expression. I have the original version and cd version of the album. This new version astonished me. Quiet IS quiet....my Clearaudio finds the best from it. One of the best ones and well worth waiting for it.

Whilst I agree with all the comments posted on the quality of the recording my QRP produced copy arrived as a less than perfect print. Very bad grazing surrounding the lead in groove on Side C which, if you don't land the stylus directly in the groove makes a most alarming noise. Further, the spindle holes are too large. This is not the standard we've come to expect from QRP. Wasn't this album originally mastered in Qsound? QUESTION -- Is this new pressing ALSO released in Qsound? Please comment. If yes -- WOW. It ought to sound spectacular -- like Madonna's IMMACULATE COLLECTION -- the first album recorded in Qsound.

Reviews

This 2015 2 LP 200-gram vinyl edition of Amused To Death features remastered audio completed by longtime Roger Waters / Pink Floyd collaborator and co-producer, James Guthrie, and has been pressed at Quality Record Pressings. The cover and gatefold art has been updated for 2015 by Sean Evans, the creative director of Waters' 2010-2013 "The Wall Live" tour and movie. The 2021 4LP 45 RPM 180-gram vinyl edition of Amused to Death features remastered audio completed by longtime Roger Waters / Pink Floyd collaborator and co-producer, James Guthrie, and has been pressed at RTI in California. The updated cover and gatefold art is by Sean Evans, the creative director of Waters' 2010-2013 "The Wall Live" tour and movie. Die Produktion paßt sich dem Ensemble, zu dem auch Orchester, soulige Frauenstimmen gehören, perfekt an.

If for no other reason than to experience the astonishing production and sound, this album should be considered “mandatory listening”. No expense seems to have been spared in the lavish production and the great care with which Waters chose the musicians. This could be the most spectacular production ever put to tape, which means it’s more spectacular sounding than anything put to ProTools—at least in my listening experience. Despite all of the beheadings, the relic destruction the rounding up and murder of ethnic Muslim minorities and all of the rest of the misery in that part of the world, none of which was in any way caused by Israel, Waters is fixated on the Palestinian injustice. It seems to arouse him more than any of these other issues, or at least that’s how it appears.

Misc

The BDS platform calls for “the end of Israeli occupation and colonization of ‘Palestinian land’ (not clearly defined), full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel (not defined), and respect for the right of return of Palestinian refugees”. The QSound™ “surround sound” is more intensely drawn, dynamics are staggering, deep bass is monumental and the depth and width of the cinematic soundstage is beyond that of every other record I can think of in my collection. That is not hyperbole. It’s 100% true as you’ll hear or perhaps have already heard. Sonically is beautiful. The re recorded version of bravery unfortunately renders this version of the album unlistenable to me. Maybe I’m being too over critical but it is such a brilliant record Roger should have left well enough alone in my opinion. I sold my Copy and sought out an original press. My god it’s perfection.
