About this deal

And yet for the most part, I really enjoyed reading this book and I'm not sure why. Possibly the writing style and the plot, but overall I have very mixed feelings. YESSSS! 🙌🏼 When I think Mafia books, THIS is the kind of book that comes to mind. I’m obsessed. (Anyone else read that sentence and think of the TikTok sound “I don’t think you understand, I’m obsessed” No? Just me? Cool). A dahlia has always bloomed best in the light, and even though everything about this place and these men is shrouded in darkness, I’m determined to thrive…to win. I have very mixed feelings about this book and a big part of me thinks this book should have been a duet.

I've read the whole six-book-long series and I can honestly say this is the worst (from my POV of course). It's not till halfway through the book that things start to get interesting. The plot doesn't seem credible, and I know that in a mafia themed book things are bound to get quite unbelievable, but still. It seemed like it was all just a pretense for the smut, which was okay I guess, but I could have lived without half the book before the smut finally started that could have been sumarised in just a couple of chapters, not the the more that 15 the author put me through before it. Great mafia read! Add in RH with brothers and I was sold. I almost wish it were a tad bit longer because I wanted more from one of the brothers. They rule the city and soon will rule over sweet, but not so innocent Dahlia. Animal abuse/cruelty. There are multiple passages talking about animals being killed and mutilated, including two pets (a cat and a bunny - the bunny was rather descriptive).Dahlia, is a young refined woman from England she is being sent to the US, as she's told she's getting married. She meets a charismatic American on the flight over and they have intense chemistry. Dahlia has never had any control of her life and she decides to take control of one aspect of her life. She gives him a piece of herself that is supposed to be meant for her intended mafia husband.YEP she gives away her virginity...........However she later discovers that the man she was with is actually her future brother in law. drama ensues!

this is not your typical arranged marriage situation. This book is deeper, darker and sorta makes you feel the pain or heartache of the young women characters. Now even if I found this meh, they are on arranged marriage so they don't own anything to each other yet..Her virginity: I was expecting more angst surrounding which brother got to take it. It was completely anti-climactic. And not what I wanted to happen. I get insta love. When it’s done right - it’s beautiful. But I’m sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out when the moment came where they started falling for each other? All of sudden it was filled with “I love yous” and I’m over here screaming WHAT WAS THE REASON I read this book yesterday and I still am not sure how to rate it. I’ve seen a couple of videos about it on Booktok and the last one was something like “she gave her virginity to her fiancées brother on a plane”. Tbh it sounded interesting and I decided to read it. One brother is fighting his own demons and wants nothing to do with her, despite the fact she is to be his wife. One brother just wants to play with her like a toy, breaking her because he can. The other falls hard, but also is known for that so what can she really believe.
