Breaking stereotypes. We are young women in an all male-dominated industry, sometimes you need to step up your game to be taken seriously. Believe in ourselves and take what we need to make our project happen. The ELLE Lab is made up of a panel of 10 WSET-certified (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) experts and consumers. They sipped (no shots here!) their way through 40 blanco, reposado and anejo tequilas. Each was tried neat, before being diluted with a touch of water, which allows the alcohol to soften, bringing out more flavour. They were looking for bright, bold examples, with exceptional complexity. Satryna is made from the finest tequilana blue weber agave that has been nurtured for 12 years and carefully selected. Steam cooked, triple distilled. Our reposado, añejo and añejo Cristalino are aged in French oak barrels imported from cognac and American Oak Barrels from California. Tell us about the process of making your tequilas - what makes Satryna different from other tequilas? It is a unique balance of the art of making tequila for centuries with a modern distillation process. You will find purity and smoothness in every sip. Your tequila is inspired by Mexico’s Day Of The Dead festival. How do you celebrate this festival and why did you turn to it for your inspiration?
Yes! I was 15 years old and home alone. I decided to invite my girlfriends over and I stole one of my parents’ bottles! I got in so much trouble.
The Jalisco Especial
The name Satryna comes from Catrina. We initially wanted to name it that but my friends from the United Kingdom kept pronouncing the C as an S for some reason. We really liked how it sounded. We know that celebs love tequila. Does Satryna have any celebrity fans? Tasting tequila is an art form. Firstly, glass choice. Drink it from a Riedel Ouverture tequila glass (the only glass designated for tasting by the Tequila Regulatory Council). Secondly, instead of throwing it down your throat, take a small sip, swish it around your mouth for two seconds, breath in deeply and exhale out. Trust us, it works.

The story begins over half a century ago when our founder Nitzan's grand parents convinced their friend, the legendary Tequilera Newton to create a unique tequila to be enjoyed just by them and their family. What’s the story? A tequila making family in Mexico created a tequila for friends to enjoy at special occasions. 60 years and three generations later, Nitzan Marrun decided this fine liquid should be shared with the world and persuaded her grandma to share the secrets behind Satryna. And so a small batch, hand-crafted, ultra-premium tequila made its UK debut this week with Blanco (triple distilled) and Cristalino (matured for 18 months in American oak barrel and charcoal-filtered).

Tequila goes well with food as there are 750 flavour notes in tequila compared to wine where there are only up to 150 flavour notes. I am usually up early enough to get a hold of the Satryna European team. We have many internal follow up calls where we share our experiences and lessons. This helps us think of better ways to implement strategies to get to our customers.
