Description

These 12TB drives are 4K sectors with emulated 512bit sectors. You can get better random performance from reformatting to 4K sectors but my raid was already in 512bit sectors so I left these as is.

IronWolf Health Management is designed to operate on compatible NAS systems such as Synology and ASUSTOR. Populated with supported IronWolf or IronWolf Pro HDDs It improves the overall system reliability by displaying actionable prevention, intervention or recovery options for the user. We should mention that this definition of workload isn’t unique to Seagate, it’s the same for Western Digital drives, and their workload amounts aren’t different for the Red Pro 20TB. Why in the UK the HC560 is cheaper than the WD Gold is curious, and the Red Pro is the most expensive in the UK of all drives. Uno de mis discos WD murió hace un tiempo y me ha costado decidirme por otra marca, he decidido apostar por este IronWolf de Seagate a ver qué tal va. Detallo algunos aspectos a tener en cuenta.Seagate brought its 20TB products to market alongside Western Digital, eliminating any special bragging rights on this scale of drive.

First in its class, IronWolf drives are equipped with RV sensors on high capacity drives to maintain performance in multi-bay NAS enclosures. RV sensors on IronWolf Pro come standard, helping business and creative pros to have consistent performance for years to come. Synology doesn’t seem to support these newer drives Ironwolf diagnostics like it did my 4TB drives. A disappointment but not a big issue and not Seagate’s fault.

The veracity of massive capacity

This design is exclusively a SATA 6GB/s connected drive, and can be used in any PC or NAS that accepts SATA drives of that spec. There is one aspect to the IronWolf Pro 20TB that concerns us, and it’s the 300TB per year workload definition.

I replaced my 2Tb WD drive in my case with the new Seagate IronWolf and powered up. After completing the drive initialization prompted by Windows and creating a partition, ending up with around 7,400 Gb available space, I began to notice something I was sure wasn't there before, a low, resonant humming coming from my large tower case. Strangely, moving my head father away from the case to determine if the hum was coming from there, resulted in it being more noticeable. The ever present hum was mildly irritating to someone like me with sensitive hearing. Not a deal breaker for most, I'm certain, and it would depend on what kind of PC case you're mounting this drive in. But given my large case is designed for silence, even having the hard drive sleds using rubber grommets between the mounting screws and the sleds, the hum was annoying. This change of mind return policy is in addition to, and does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law including any rights you may have in respect of faulty items.I bought the 12TB models to start replacing my old 4TB Ironwolf drives that have been in operation for 6 years without any problems not even a bad sector. These new drives are a little noisier than the 4TB’s but the density is wonderful. Now instead of 10.9TB of storage i have 18.2TB, a modest upgrade but it will cover my needs for years and once I phase out the last of the 4TB drives i will see a huge jump in capacity. I would have gone with larger drives but got a good deal on the 12TB’s that made them the cheapest per TB of the Ironwolf’s RAID performance optimised that maximises responsiveness and uptime with NAS-aware Error Recovery Control

CrystalDiskMark: 286.8MBps (read); 279.3MBps (write) Atto: 277.89MBps (read, 256MB); 274.68MBps (write, 256MB)

Enjoy peace of mind with 3 years Data recovery

Installation was a breeze, thanks to the SATA 6Gb/s interface, and the drive runs cool and quiet, even during extended usage periods. It's clear that Seagate has put serious thought into both the performance and longevity of this drive. Tiene un diseño específico para funcionar en sistemas NAS que permite trabajar las 24 horas del día, los 7 días de la semana, lo que lo hace adecuado para entornos de almacenamiento en red que necesitan operar de manera continua.
