About this deal

It's less obviously influenced by luxury brands and benefits from that. It's an attractive watch that doesn't slot neatly into any niche. That's helpful if you only want to own one watch. Just like the previous Sekonda watches, this model makes use of a quartz movement and a mineral crystal glass lens. There’s not much in the way of water resistance so I don’t recommend getting this watch wet. It’s perfect for day to day wear or when you’re heading out for a meal perhaps. As long as you remember that Sekonda is a mass-market watch brand, you will be ok. Bear in mind the low price-point and that you're not shopping for a Rolex and you won't have to worry about the quality.

This Sekonda is a great example. It's a very legible watch that hints at military and field watch themes. The dial is straightforward and easy to read, despite being quite busy. My experience has been that many cheap chronographs end up looking like cheap chronographs. The designs are often cluttered and have colour schemes that hurt your eyes. But remember, this is very much a desk diver. It's not a true sports watch, instead, it's a very affordable way to get the look. And it certainly has the look.

Undoubtedly, Sekonda has done an amazing job branding itself as an affordable watch company. While others died out in the aftermath of the quartz crisis, Sekonda saw it as an opportunity to create cheaper yet still reliable timepieces. When various brands flooded the market, Sekonda still survived because of its style innovations and marketing campaigns. In fact, not only did the brand survive but it thrived. Sekonda, although a British watch brand, has its toots in two of the oldest watch factories in Russia: the Soviet’s first manufacturer of watches and movements, the First State Watch Factory that was established in 1930; and to Russia’s oldest factory, the Petrodvorets Watch Factory that was established in 1721. These Russian watch manufacturers produced the Poljot and Raketa watches, respectively. The military watches I've featured above are meant to be plain. That's the style. It's realistic to create that appearance at a low price-point. With Chronographs, it gets more difficult. There are subdials, extra hands and a tachymeter to consider.

Sekonda are definitely a brand you can trust, they’ve been around a very long time and know what they’re doing. Are their watches any good though? That depends what you personally consider to be good. If you’re asking if Sekonda offer value for money then I honestly feel they do. They’ve very affordable timepieces so you shouldn’t be expecting all these extra bells and whistles, and for what they cost they’re fair. 5 Best Sekonda Watches For Men The markers are plain dots - the same as the Rolex - but the hands are different. I like that. It gives the watch its own character. That's important when you're producing inexpensive watches. Any innovation or individuality is welcome. The second hand adds the only touch of colour, making it quite noticeable. Otherwise, this is a fairly simple design. There are a neat minute ring and larger numerals on the bezel. They're practical and don't compromise the spartan aesthetic. This is an uncomplicated piece, but with a colourful take on a popular dive watch style. The features that you'd expect are here. A mid-sized case with crown guards and a rotating bezel. The rest of the design continues this. The hands, date window and chronograph pushers are all reminiscent of the Swiss original. Below I’ve put together a list of 5 of the most popular Sekonda watches for men. As always I’d love to hear what your favourite is so let us know in the comments section at the end. We offer delivery to anywhere in mainland UK including the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Isle of Wight.

The weather app is a joke. Four thermometers in the garden today recording temperatures varying between 38 and 42°C. Met Office forecast is for 40°C. Sekonda weather app suggests temperature of between 18°C and 30°C. Cannot get any other data on the watch and the app on the phone is nearly as bad. Also needs to be reconnected every few days. I don't bother with it as it's neither reliable nor useful.

The 7 Best Sekonda Watches

Powering this men’s watch is a quartz movement, these are battery powered movements that offer you reliable and accurate timekeeping. A mineral crystal glass lens also offers you a good level of resistance against scratches and shattering. You’ll be pleased to find out this model also has a 50m water resistance rating, not bad for a watch in this price range. They're arranged neatly on the dial and maintain a nice symmetry. Each is outlined with gold accents, as are the hands, markers and bezel.
