About this deal

Snake Mountain made several appearances in the minicomics. Its depiction varies, but it tends to include both elements of the Filmation series as well as the appearance of the toy. To get to throne, figures must pass by the wolf head and the intimidating spider. To get out, they must watch out for the 'acid pool' on the way to the hidden escape tunnel. An update deep in the heart of the latest edition of Toy Book online reveals the official price of the MOTU Origins Snake Mountain!

The 1980s toy version of Snake Mountain looks little like its Filmation appearance. It is a purple mountain, with its most notable feature being a demon-like face on one side. There is a trapdoor inside the gate, which is operated by a switch underneath. The toy also included a removable echo microphone, with the head of a wolf near the top. The microphone stored inside the toy, with the head of the wolf showing out the right side of the mountain. The demon face also had a lever located on the inside of the castle which allowed the user to operate the mouth of the face. This action, combined with a user speaking into the echo microphone, gave the appearance that Snake Mountain was talking in a frightening voice. A large green snake on a swivel sat near the top of the playset as well. To get to throne, figures must pass by the wolf head and intimidating spider. To get out, watch out for the "acid pool" on the way to the hidden escape tunnel! This Masters of the Universe Origins playset is inspired by the Snake Mountain lair in the Dark Hemisphere of Eternia. It was created as an homage to the '80s but with a bigger and better modern design. A huge snake dominates the top of the playset that also features a trap door, dungeon, Skeletor throne, “acid pool,” and escape tunnel. The playset is made for 5.5-inch Origins figures for an epic display. Colors and decorations may vary. As a figure moves up the stairs and through the upper gate -- BAM! It will drop through the trapdoor into the cage. The cage can move to the dungeon underneath the throne of Skeletor™ for safekeeping. We have many, MANY more pictures to show in the gallery below. We are guessing the actual price will be in line with the MOTU Origins Castle Grayskull and that it will be more a more expensive set given production and manufacturing costs have gone up since the release of Castle Grayskull. The range we see on Deep Discount gives us a good idea on the the amount of money we will be shelling out, which is way less than the Mattel Creations Eternia playset! Snake Mountain Image from Toy Fair Germany New features include actual floors inside the Grayskull and Viper towers, and new ways to display the gun turrets. Foot pegs allow for more deluxe display options, and the lion arms will feature a wider range of motion, with ball joints controlled by an “orb of power.” RELATED: William Shatner to Be a Voice in Masters of the Universe: Revolution As a figure moves up the stairs and through the upper gate — BAM! On September 29, Mattel toys invited Nerdist and other outlets to a special celebration of Masters of the Universe‘s 40th anniversary. Mattel gave us a preview of several additions to the line for 2023. Not only did we see the new toys and behind-the-scenes details on the toys’ creation, we also got a special Masters of the Universe tour of Mattel HQ in El Segundo, California. Including a peek into Mattel’s “Eternia Room.” There, the company archives 40 years of Masters of the Universe products. Combine the aesthetics of Conan the Barbarian with the sci-fi action of Star Wars for a new line of action figures. The result was Masters of the Universe, a toyline that gave birth to a franchise. Although the line’s popularity was most prominent in the ’80s, the kids who grew up with He-Man and Skeletor’s eternal struggle never forgot. Masters of the Universe continues to grow to this day. Snake Mountain was not introduced until some way into the MOTU franchise. Previously, Skeletor's hideout had been described as "amongst the catacombs deep under Eternia", while the bible for the Filmation series listed his base as being Point Dread, located in the middle of the ocean.
