Description

The Galactic Civil War has erupted into pitched battle on a thousand planets of the galaxy. Rebel cells sabotage Imperial operations, while the Galactic Empire brings the full force of its military machine to bear against the Rebel Alliance. New heroes and generals are forged in the fires of war every day—and you can join their ranks. One unit of two Droidekas is ready to speed into battle in wheel mode. Once there, the wheel mode miniatures can be replaced by two Droideka miniatures ready to lay down heavy fire on targets the B1 Battle Droids cannot take care of. This two-player miniatures game by Fantasy Flight Games (FFG) is their first foray into the ground combat of the Star Wars universe. Unlike the small skirmishes found in its predecessor game, Imperial Assault, Star Wars Legion gives you a cinematic feel, and full squads appear, ready for battle, alongside vehicles such as speeder bikes, AT-RT’s and AT-ST’s.

Each game of Star Wars Legion will be very different. Included in the Core Set are numerous deployment cards and battle objectives. You will find yourself battling to take key locations, or perhaps to infiltrate your units to the opposing player’s deployment zone.To begin building your Separatist armies, you’ll find eighteen unpainted, finely detailed B1 Battle Droid miniatures, enough for two corps units. Ready to support them on the battlefield are four Droideka miniatures representing these destructive droids in both their standard and wheel mode forms. A bipedal AT-RT miniature lends extra firepower to the Rebellion with three options for customization, allowing you to equip your AT-RT with a rotary blaster, a laser cannon, or a flamethrower. This version of the AT-RT is found exclusively in the Core Set. Movement in Star WarsLegion is fast and organic as you send your troopers marching forward. Every unit has a speed which determines the jointed movement tool that you’ll use to move that unit. You simply align the movement tool with the base of the unit leader and move it to the end of the movement tool.

And of course, perhaps the most entertaining way you can customize your army is by painting and customizing your miniatures! All Star WarsLegion minis come unpainted, so after you assemble your army, you’ll be able to paint your miniatures into something that only you could have created. Although you don’t need to paint your miniatures, many players find it more enjoyable to play with a painted army, and even if you’ve never painted an army of miniatures before, Star WarsLegion is the perfect introduction to the hobby. In addition to introducing the Galactic Republic and Separatist Alliance to the game as new factions, this Core Set contains all the cards, tools and tokens you need to begin staging your own Star Wars battles right away, making this the perfect starting point for building your Star Wars: Legion collection. Importantly, the Clone Wars Core Set is not a new edition of the game, and you don't need the original Core Set to start playing. The Clone Wars Core Set is fully compatible with all previous Star Wars: Legion products, inviting you to play out whatever battles you can imagine across the saga. Those who choose to spread chaos, tyranny, and fear as the Separatist Alliance can wield a massive droid military. With an overwhelming number of B1 Battle Droids at your command, you can trample over any who stand in your path and—if B1 Battle Droids alone aren’t enough to secure victory—you can always send in a unit of Droidekas to provide the firepower necessary to decimate any opponents that remain standing. Warfare is an inescapable part of the Star Wars universe, from the blow dealt to the Rebel Alliance in the Battle of Hoth to a few Rebel strike teams taking on a legion of stormtroopers stationed on Endor. Seize your chance to get your boots on the ground and lead your troops to victory with Star Wars™: Legion, a miniatures game of thrilling infantry battles in the Star Wars universe!Plastic Miniatures (1 x AT-RT, 2 x Speeder Bikes, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, 14 Rebels, 14 Imperials) A BARC Speeder miniature gives your Clone Troopers some much-needed speed as they look to out-maneuver the Separatist's battle droids and can be assembled with or without its sidecar. Those who include the sidecar can further customise their speeder with a twin laser gunner, an RPS-6 gunner, or an ion gunner. Two squads of Rebel Troopers (each with seven unique miniatures) stand ready to fight for freedom on any battlefield. Five are armed with A-280 blaster rifles, while two heavy weapons specialists carry a Z-6 rotary blaster cannon and an MPL-57 modified to fire ion torpedoes.

Whilst the game can be played straight out of the box there is also an optional hobby side of the game! A fully painted army of miniatures is one of the most thrilling sights in gaming, and even if you don’t have a history with miniatures painting, it’s easy to get started. War has engulfed the galaxy. The vast forces of the Separatist Alliance, bolstered by seemingly endless ranks of battle droids, have pushed the Galactic Republic to the brink of dissolution and defeat. The Republic’s only hope is its army of elite clone troopers, led into battle by noble, Force-wielding Jedi Knights. The war between them is an epic struggle where every battle could turn the tide and change the fate of the galaxy. You can immerse yourself in this epic conflict, assembling your forces and leading them against your opponents in the legendary ground battles of Star Wars™ with the Clone Wars Core Set for Star Wars™: Legion! Enter a new era of battle in the Star Wars universe. The Republic’s Clone Troopers face off against the Separatist droid army in this core set. Obi-Wan and General Grevious are also included, along with all the cards, tools and tokens you need to begin your own battles in this massive universe. You can mix this core set in with other expansions and core sets, but this set can also be played on its own.Moving, as the name suggests, allows you to cross the battlefield with your units. The game comes with three movement tools, and each unit has a specific movement range varying from 1-3. When moving a trooper squadron you move the unit’s leader the designated range, then bring all his fellow troops into cohesion. Vehicle movement is slightly different, in that the tool clips into place with the front base of the vehicle, and vehicles can also pivot and reverse. Once you have assembled your forces you them need to assemble your force adding in troopers, vehicles, and of course, characters from the epic film series. Just as they should, characters like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader can change the course of the battle, if used to their strengths!

As the Separatist Alliance spreads itself across the galaxy, brave Clone Troopers and valiant Jedi are the only thing that stand between the relentless waves of Battle Droids and total galactic domination. Soon, you can build your armies and battle for the fate of the galaxy. Star Wars Legion really comes into its own when you come to customise your army. In a standard game of Legion, each side gets to spend 800 points worth on troops. You are limited as to how many of the more powerful units you can bring to bear, for example, each side can only have up to two heavy units, the Imperials for example will only be bringing a maximum of two AT-ST’s to the battle.Star Wars Legion immerses players in the exciting, cinematic ground combat of the Star Wars universe. From the sound of blaster fire echoing across the battlefield to the unmistakable shudder and crunch of an AT-ST walker, appearing from the undergrowth, Legion plunges you into the fierce conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. Star Wars: Legion invites you to enter the ground battles of the Galactic Civil War as the commander of a unique army of miniatures filled with troopers, powerful ground or repulsor vehicles, and iconic characters like Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker. While innovative mechanics for command and control simulate the fog of war and the chaos of battle, the game’s unpainted, easily assembled minis give you a canvas to create the Star Wars army you’ve always wanted to lead into battle—whether you fight for the monolithic, oppressive Galactic Empire or the ragtag Rebel Alliance." Two sqauds of Phase I Clone Troops enter the fight to preserve the Republic. Five carry the DC-15A blaster rifle while two heavy weapons specialists add extra firepower with a Z-6 rotary blaster cannon and a DC-15 blaster rifle modified to fire from long range. Legion is a brilliant addition to FFG’s vast array of Star Wars games. It is completely different from its cousin game, Imperial Assault. Whilst Assault is more concerned with a few talented heroes, fighting in small skirmishes against Imperial troops, and is very much a ‘dungeon-delving’ game, Legion takes the warfare aspect of the Star Wars universe to an epic scale.
