Description

The evolution of modern humans has taken more than five million years but until less than 50,000 years ago we had no art, no religion, no sophisticated symbolism, no creative and innovative thinking, and quite possibly no language. Then, a dramatic and electrifying change overtook our ancestors in every part of the globe, and all the skills and qualities that we value most highly in ourselves today appeared suddenly, already fully formed, as though bestowed on us by hidden powers. Scientists describe this change as “the greatest riddle in human history”. I know plants can be so incredibly scary. Their sitting. Their growing. Their scent. Their roots. Their fruits. Their spreading. They're so scary... oh my goodness, there's plants outside of my window, they're just... staring at me! Someone save me! The plants... they're... not... doing... anything. Oh, maybe I'm freaking out for nothing. Well, duh.

My favourite part of the book is in the last third where he starts talking about DNA and Strassmans experiments with DMT. I could talk about this for an exceptionally long time and entirely analyse the book from cover to cover as mentioned before, that would be an entire novel in itself. But as he so constantly does in all of his factual titles, it pushes what you think you know about a subject to the limits and beyond in an enjoyable and always coherent way. It also makes you wonder about exactly what your dreams are and how, just maybe, all those characters and people you’ve met in your dreams, could be the entities that you meet under a DMT trip. (That’s my speculation by the way, not the author’s I would like to point out.) Zame ye Mebege [the last of the creator gods] gave us Eboka. One day . . . he saw . . . the Pygmy Bitamu, high in an Atanga tree, gathering its fruit. He made him fall. He died, and Zame brought his spirit to him. Zame cut off the little fingers and little toes of the cadaver of the Pygmy and planted them in various parts of the forest. They grew into the Eboka bush. They were not aliens either, though the alien topic is not shied away from. Somehow universal knowledge, deeper perception, and even the knowledge necessary for the building of civilization are available through trance. Riel-Salvatore, Julien (22 November 2022). There are many parralels between the two including abductions, mating between humans and these beings. At times the human parent is brought in to take care of the child. The author believes that the faery abductions and the UFO abductions are one and the same. If you like faery lore , UFO abductions and spiritual growth through Psychadelics then you will enjoy this book. The author himself experiments with Psychadelic. I lay on a couch in the darkened drawing room of a 200-year-old townhouse in the English city of Bath. The streets outside were deserted and offered few clues to remind me of the familiar world. It was reassuring to find that I could still read the luminous dial of my wristwatch if I held it in front of my eyes. Ten minutes passed, then 20, then 35. I began to feel bored, restless, even a little blase After 45 minutes I closed my eyes and directed my thoughts inwards towards contemplation, still noticing nothing unusual. But at the end of the first hour of my vigil, when I tried to stand up and walk around, I was amazed to discover that my legs would not work. Out of nowhere, an enervating feebleness had ambushed my limbs, the slightest physical effort set off uncontrollable tremors and stumbling, and I had completely lost my sense of balance. Supernatural: Due to or manifesting some agency above the forces of nature, outside of the ordinary operation of cause and effect.”] When at last I closed my eyes again the sinuous intertwined patterns reappeared with renewed intensity and then were abruptly overwritten by a profile view of a heavily built blond young man with his eyes turned towards me in a glare of reproach. He appeared right at my side, startlingly close. His skin was pallid and his brow blotched with patches of green mould.

B&N BAM See Visionary: The Mysterious Origins of Human Consciousness for the Definitive Edition of Supernatural, published April 2022 I respected his thorough knowledge of ancient civilizations, shamanism, and his willingness to experience hallucinogenics (not my thing, but if you're going to write about it, you should probably experience it). He lost me a little during the alien abduction chapters (and the fairy chapters), I had to force myself to read them and found them a bit tiresome. What is the significance of the astonishing similarities between the entities known as “aliens”, ET’s” or “greys” in modern popular culture, the entities known as “fairies”, “elves” and “goblins” in the Middle Ages, and the entities that shamans in surviving tribal cultures know as “ghosts”, “gods” and “spirits”? Why are such figures depicted in prehistoric art as far afield as Africa, Europe, the Americas and Australia? Zipf's law states that given some corpus of natural language utterances, the frequency of any word is inversely proportional to its rank in the frequency table. Junk DNA appears to follow Zipf's Law. I had no idea about this Law and am now fascinated with it.
