About this deal

Woofer frame not only feels plastic, it is plastic. Specifically it's some type of tough nylon material. The spider is unusually close to the motor, not a lot of room for excursion. No vented pole piece, which should help keep the sounds in the box and not venting out of the dust cap, but it's not going to help with power handling. The purpose of this test is to illustrate how much (if at all) the output changes as a speaker’s components temperature increases (i.e., voice coils, crossover components) instantaneously. To be with you at every step. From envisioning a serene evening with your favourite album to setting up the

I don't like these speakers in a stereo living room setup. They would probably be great in a home theater with auto correcting receiver and subwoofer.Australia’s Hi-Fi Retailer of the Year in 2021 and 2022, and hailed as Queensland’s Best Hi-Fi Retailer. Not just A range of connection points makes it easy to link your other music sources to these SVS speakers. Games consoles or CD/DVD/Blu-ray players are connected via the digital optical input. For hi-fi sources without a digital output, simply use the RCA phonos. Portable devices can be plugged in via the 3.5mm line input. In the opening, the timbres of the wind instruments -- clarinet, muted trumpet, trombone -- were completely convincing, making it easy to appreciate the saucy wit in Gershwin’s writing and Grofé’s arrangement. Orchestral textures were wonderfully transparent in the quieter sections, such as the beginning of the dreamy interlude that starts about ten minutes in. The SoundBase scaled up impressively when the whole band got swinging, but a little hardness crept in. That said, dynamics were fabulous for an amp of this size and price. Play-Fi, if you aren't aware, is a method for speakers from different manufacturers to communicate over a wireless network. Think of it like Bluetooth – a method which doesn't care who makes the devices at either end, but just gets them talking. Play-Fi works via a smartphone app, and SVS use it to help set up the Prime Wireless speakers, and get them connected to a network. You can stream almost anything you want through this app, including high-res services like Tidal.

In driver terms, the SVS partners a 1 inch (I’d use millimetres but the land of Imperial measures doesn’t) aluminium tweeter partnered with a 4.5inch polypropylene midbass driver. The most notable aspect of this partnership is the manner in which the crossover is implemented. Instead of a passive design - which you would expect to find in a passive speaker, the SVS uses a digital crossover system. This is derived from the technology that crops up in the company’s subwoofers and SVS says is helps to ensure the relationship between the drivers is optimal rather than ‘close enough.’ Sound Power represents all of the sounds arriving at the listening position after any number of reflections from any direction. It is the weighted rms average of all 70 measurements, with individual measurements weighted according to the portion of the spherical surface that they represent. I then played “Silence Is the Question” via the Roon app on my MacBook Pro, which I connected to the SoundBase’s optical input. Before playing music from the MacBook Pro, I set the sampling rate in the macOS Audio MIDI Setup utility to match the sample rate of the music I was playing. The Wi-Fi stream sounded a little livelier and better defined; through the MacBook Pro’s TosLink output it sounded a tad smoother, but also denser. The differences were minor compared to those I’d heard between Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Bottom line, Play-Fi still isn’t quite there yet as a streaming and multiroom audio ecosystem, but it’s getting better by leaps and bounds. And the reality is, you really don’t need to employ Play-Fi functionality at all to get a ton of usage out of the SoundBase. It should be considered an added bonus and not much else. All data collected using Klippel’s Near-Field Scanner. The Near-Field-Scanner 3D (NFS) offers a fully automated acoustic measurement of direct sound radiated from the source under test. The radiated sound is determined in any desired distance and angle in the 3D space outside the scanning surface. Directivity, sound power, SPL response and many more key figures are obtained for any kind of loudspeaker and audio system in near field applications (e.g. studio monitors, mobile devices) as well as far field applications (e.g. professional audio systems). Utilizing a minimum of measurement points, a comprehensive data set is generated containing the loudspeaker’s high resolution, free field sound radiation in the near and far field. For a detailed explanation of how the NFS works and the science behind it, please watch the below discussion with designer Christian Bellmann:Wattage figures are all RMS - the average power output at a reasonable volume, rather than pushed to the max. Dual 6.5" woofers produce simply deep and articulate bass to set the mood and punctuate the low-end impact of instruments, basslines and movie sound effects. Each woofer has a separate internal compartment in the cabinet with its own custom port tuning frequency. The result is deep, powerful and accurate bass you hear and more crucially, feel. SoundMatch Crossover When I played Bach’s B Minor Mass through the D3020V2 and Sky Towers, the big opening phrase of the Kyrie sounded a bit strained -- reducing the volume slightly made the sound more composed. In the loud choral passages later in this movement, dynamics were more compressed through the NAD than through the SVS. But with the NAD the sound was less congested -- I found it easier to follow Bach’s part-writing and counterpoint. The soundstage was deeper through the NAD, giving a better sense of the acoustic of LSO St. Luke’s, a deconsecrated London church now used as a recording studio, and better separating the choir and orchestra.

The Early Reflections curve is an estimate of all single-bounce, first-reflections, in a typical listening room.Since premium drivers require an equally capable crossover, no expense was spared with the innovative SVS SoundMatch 2-way crossover. Its tapered array is designed to minimize the potential for beaming. This creates an expansive, yet focused and precise soundstage, with accurate frequency response at all listening positions in the room. The precise tuning of the SoundMatch Crossover also ensures pinpoint accuracy of highs, mids, and lows, while maintaining pristine signal purity. Performance Driven Cabinet Design and Geometry The innovative no-compromise SVS SoundMatch features 3.5-way crossover and tapered array designed so each woofer has its own discrete crossover to prevent beaming and create an expansive yet focused and accurate soundstage with precise frequency response at all listening positions in the room. The SoundMatch Crossover tuning process ensures pinpoint accuracy from lucid highs to palpable lows with pristine musical purity. Cabinet Design and Geometry Tweeter is a 1 inch metal dome, I'm guessing it's aluminum. There is some type of doped accordion surround and a diffuser to spread the highest frequencies out. Horizontal directivity takes a hit in the 3-5kHz region due to diffraction (despite the beveled baffle). Vertical directivity has more serious issues likely due - at least in part - to the tweeter to midwoofer separation distance. Ideally, these two drivers should be physically closer together. SVS Prime Pinnacle Speakers features three unique tuning frequency enclosures for each of the three woofers to ensure the highest performance from each driver. This design effectively ensures all drivers blend seamlessly together, making sure you get a fluid transition from the midrange to the woofers alongside great handling of the frequencies. Enjoy a truly immersive experience with stunningly refined details, crisp speed in transients and a floor filling bass. Key Features
