About this deal

Overall I did really enjoy this story and the couple's chemistry and connection and would reccomend the book to any and all lovers of new adult sport romances.

They really bring out the best in each other and seem to have a connection, they understand each other. Below is my (short) review of my ARC of Take the Lead! Thanks to Snowe for sharing an early copy with me. Dislikes: It was a bit too slow burn for me. It kind of felt like the majority of the book was regarding the issues around her relationship with her dad. And also how she was repeatedly referred to as the 'ugly sister'. I love when authors hit real topics like how her relationship was with her mother. Daniella is tired of never measuring up in her mother's eyes and being paraded around in hopes of securing a future her mother wants for her. If you HATE tropes where the MC's insecurities get in the way of the relationship, then this is not the book for you. Throughout the book the FMC is constantly belittled and critiqued for her appearance by her mother which takes a toll on her confidence. She said she was going to prove to me that she deserved my heart? Well, game on, Fletcher. I would prove to us that we were meant for each other.” This book just made me happy in all the best ways and I cannot wait to read the next one, because I am here for Freddie! Things begin easily with their friendship, but with every touch and fake kiss, Daniella can’t hide her feelings anymore. And for Gabe, who sets deadlines for every fling he’s ever had, he struggles to fight for what he wants. When their timeline is up, Daniella’s insecurities clash with Gabe’s inability to commit. For two people terrified to take a chance, they must risk their decade-long friendship for a shot at love. I loved Dani, her terrible relationship with her mom was too relatable. Her childhood crush on Van and how she did her very best to keep her cool around him but just was falling for him because how could you not. Because dear, sweet, simpin, allergic and too cool for his feelings Van. OMG. Doesn't even realize he fell for Dani just can't stop touching her, gone for her immediately, wants her to be happy and okay. I love him, he was so soft, so sweet. Even his relationship with Elle was just too cute. Dani has never felt she measured up to her parent’s expectations for her both when her comes to her image and the men in her life. She is dreading having to visit them over the holidays as she knows that they are determined to find a suitable man for her so she decides to ask Gabe to pretend to be her boyfriend to make the situation more tenable.

It’s easy to focus on the negative, and it’s human to feel shitty, but it’s a choice to let it dominate your life.” Jaqueline Snowe does it again! Take the Lead was such a fun New Adult, college sports romance. It gives us the best friend's brother trope and it does it in a magnificent way. The forbidden aspect, the "I've had a crush on him for years", and so much more amazing aspects you'll find inside this book. She also has a twin (the “pretty” twin who is popular and has things in common with Dad) that she’s got some hurt feelings about. overall, i could’ve gave this book 3 stars and been at peace but the author tried to appeal to pop culture without knowing her audience…You know what I am trash for? Sports romances and slightly broken characters. Well, this book had both those things, and I had a great time seeing these two get their HEA.
