Description

Kat is a journalist who is relegated to writing fluff pieces and peddling them to various publications just to pay the bills. Meanwhile, she is on the hunt for that career-making story that has Meg at the center and will, not only make a name for herself but, provide closure as well. A story that started 10 years ago and whose leads seem to have dried up. Until Kat receives a Google Alert that she set ten years ago.

Location: Hotel Krat - After talking to Antonia, you’ll notice that Polendina has left the front desk. Head to the garden that leads to city hall and you’ll find him next to the fountain. Belle (Hotel Krat and Ruined Krat Station) Belle will ask you about what happened to her partner. Image: Neowiz Games via Polygon There are no crazy twists, but a very clever surprise is in store. It was refreshing to read a thriller about strong, smart women who are not fueled by alcohol and stupidity. While this book is thrilling, it wasn’t exactly a thriller. There wasn’t exactly a reveal or twist, we just slowly find out whether Meg is successful. I guess there was a twist for Kat, but the reader already knew that Meg’s goal was righting wrongs rather than just screwing over random dudes. The Ending: Location: Grand Exhibition - A short cutscene will play after you defeat a boss named Champion Victor. Simon Manus, along with his devout zealot, Laxasia, will appear.

The two women meet and form a fake frienship each knowing what the other is up to and then...Le'ts just say that thats when things get complicated. The Lies I Tell is a twisted domestic thriller that dives deep into the psyches and motivations of two women and their unwavering quest to seek justice for the past and rewrite the future. If you’re interested in discussing The Lies I Tell with your book club, consider exploring themes of identity, revenge, and justice. You may also want to delve into the motivations and psychologies of the main characters, as well as the twists and turns of the plot. The greatest downside of Meg's career is the loneliness. Do you think she could have kept in touch with her friends when she started scamming Cory? How would you feel in her position, moving cross-country every few years and not making any permanent connections?

Both Kat and Meg have a complicated relationship with the truth. How do their views on honesty differ? How do these differences affect their lives and relationships? Eugenie and Alidoro, Part 1 (Hotel Krat and Barren Swamp) You’ll receive the Four-fingered Gloves from Eugenie. Image: Neowiz Games via Polygon Meg is a master at exploiting the weaknesses of her targets, and ego is one of the most powerful tools in her arsenal. By playing on her targets’ insecurities, Meg is able to manipulate them into doing things they wouldn’t normally do. But how do her targets create openings for her in the first place? What kind of behavior makes them vulnerable to Meg’s cons, and how does Meg take advantage of it? Simon Manus (Cradle of the Gods) Simon Manus is curious about what happened to Sophia. I really liked this book. Well written with interesting characters and plots. While there was no WOW moment or huge cliffhangers, it flowed well and was so intriguing that I read it in one day. I liked all the characters and felt like I knew them well. A story about a grifter and the reporter who followed her for 10 years was interesting to me not only for the great characters, but also for the excellent and clean writing style of the author. I found myself rooting for the grifter, Meg Williams, the teenager wronged and scarred by living in a van with her terminally ill mother. They were forced into this life when they were swindled out of their home, the only home she’d ever known, by her mother’s lover. After losing her mother while she was a senior in high school and continuing to live in her van, she became obsessed with the idea of bringing the man down. She practices her game over the years on many marks to perfect her craft. During Meg’s first experience, a very young assistant reporter stumbled upon a story about a high school principal who was taking advantage of his female students. Desperately wanting a shot at a promotion, Kat begin to research this story and found another angle, involving the college student he was living with, Meg Williams. Betrayal and deception are at the heart of Meg and Kat’s friendship. Despite knowing that they shouldn’t trust each other, they continue to work together, relying on their shared experience and their bond. As their friendship grows, they navigate a delicate dance of lies and half-truths, never knowing if the other is telling the truth or not. How do they manage to maintain their friendship under such difficult circumstances? What kind of impact does their situation have on their emotions and their trust in others?

Kat doesn't trust that Scott will be investigated by his colleagues. Is there incentive for police departments to investigate their officers and detectives? What motivations do they have to sweep corruption and violence under the rug? Overall though, an excellent read. This is my first read by this author, and I will be sure to read more.

Media Reviews

This is the first book that I have read by Julie Clark. I am anxious to read one of her other novels. I found this book to be entertaining, suspenseful and well-written. I enjoyed the building of suspense, while deescalating the tension with tidbits from the past. I found the characters to be true to themselves, even if they lied to everyone else. The women were more similar than they realized and yet different as a mentor and student might be. The men were stereotypical but with just enough saving grace to make you think the women may have it wrong. This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2022, after loving Julie Clark’s debut, The Last Flight. I’m thrilled to say it did not disappoint. As Kat begins to stalk Meg, she provokes a meeting with her and slowly, a friendship of sorts evolves. She is somewhat surprised to discover how likable Meg is, yet she remains determined to expose her escapades for all to see. Meg, on the other hand, knows deception when she sees it, and finds herself wondering what exactly Meg may be hiding with her less than truthful persona. Thank you to Sourcebooks Landmark and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Expected Publication Date: 6/21/22.

I never thought I could love an anti-heroine so much but Meg deserved each praise I may give! She was fighter, survivor, smart, patient, cunning, loyal to girl code, easy to resonate!Sophia (Ascension Bridge) By the time you see the real Sophia, you’ll realize that she doesn’t have a lot of time left. Image: Neowiz Games via Polygon Now Meg has returned to LA after a 10 year absence, looking for revenge for what happened a decade ago. She has spent the last ten years getting better and better at reinventing herself. She has gone by many names and has left more than a few men wondering why and how this woman has upended their lives. Sometimes Meg has cost them their fortunes, sometimes exposed their lies. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of Julie Clark's newest thriller, The Lies I Tell. It takes an amazing storyteller to create complicated characters like Kat and Meg, two women who have been burned in the past and decide to take justice - or revenge - into their own hands. Accused of a brutal murder, Victoria Ford made a final chilling call from the North Tower on the morning of 9/11. Twenty years ago, no one listened. Today, you will.
