for the dynamics of the HDR format. The Matrix is created in two worlds: the "real" world in cool blue In this explosive final chapter of the Matrix trilogy, Neo, Morpheus and Trinity battle to defend Zion, the last real-world city, against the onslaught of the machines that have enslaved the human race. And, now as Neo learns more about his heroic powers--including the ability to see the codes of things and the people, he faces the consequences of the choice made in The Matrix Reloaded. The detail is superb, whether it's the pores and skin textures in character closeups, or the grungy This is another highly welcome full-fat native 4K release to add to the great releases we've had this year ( Die Hard 4K, Gladiator 4K, Jurassic Park 4K and, in terms of recent productions, Blade Runner 2049 4K or even The Greatest Showman 4K)

Now with HDR, this film can be viewed in its futuristic Beyond the richly layered narrative, The Matrix is arguably best remembered as a series of stunningly realised setpieces which utilised new technology to deliver such effects as 'bullet-time', with action not only slowed down, but also revolved around. Whether the first time you saw space battles in Star Wars, or CG in Terminator 2, or even a John Woo action film, The Matrix was a turning-point in terms of action after which things would never be the same Con respecto a esta trilogía, decidí comprarla así porque la cuarta película no fue lo que esperaba; no debieron haber filmado la cuarta entrega, fue un verdadero asco. Es por eso que me quedo con la trilogía original. En Blu-ray se ven poderosísimas, casi no se nota el grano fílmico. Neo seeks the truth about the Matrix. Only one man has the answer, an elusive dangerous man who is known as Morpheus. A stranger called Trinity invites Neo to follow a white rabbit which guides him into a parallel world. Reality is a world run by artificially intelligent machines who control the human slaves in a simulated 20th Century...

The Matrix: Other Editions

Available on both the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray ( thank you, Warners!), The Matrix roars to life with an intense, reference quality Atmos mix that's sure to test the accuracy of any Dolby Atmos home theater system or sound bar. The movie has been a go-to demo disc since the days of DVD, but this is a whole other level. In other aspects it remains a fabulously enjoyable film. The uncluttered narrative and tight editing mean that at 136 minutes The Matrix zips by. Its themes (the idea of what's real and what's not, of freedom fighters taking on the establishment) are just as relevant today. The discovery of the 'real world', the quality of performances or just the inventiveness of the visuals make for a film that's like an old friend whose company you find reassuring. It's a product of the late 90s and has aged, but not in ways that prove detrimental. Bullet Time and the visual effects in general don't feel as impressive now, this 4K release highlighting the low-res look of some effects. While The Matrix Resurrections is in many ways a better and leaner film than either The Matrix Reloaded or The Matrix Revolutions, it feels more elective than truly vital or necessary. But if you loved the original trilogy, it’s still nice to revisit this world for a little while. The film certainly leaves Neo and Trinity in a more positive place. And Warner’s Ultra HD release definitely offers a reference-quality viewing experience. It’s therefore recommended, if only for diehard fans and 4K enthusiasts.

That said, if you own a 4K TV with Dolby Vision or HDR10 capability, forget the new Blu-ray because THIS 4K Blu-ray is the ultimate way to watch The Matrix. original stems and effects from the archive and using the expanded capabilities of Atmos' object-based system to bring the Those same three individual releases are exactly what’s included together here in The Matrix Trilogy set, in three UHD cases with a slipcase to hold them.

REALITY: That world is a hoax, an elaborate deception spun by all-powerful machines of artificial intelligence that control us. Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne lead the fight to free humankind in the see-and-see-again cyberthriller written and directed by The Wachowskis and the winner of four Academy Awards®* I will only review the 4k set, not the movies themselves. The movies have been out long enough that people know what they are and how they feel about them. I personally like all of them, almost equally, but as anyone who has been around since the first movie came out, that was a fan of the first movie when it came out, knows the opinions on the quality of the second and third movies that are out there. The only real negative of the image is around how, on occasion, these searing highlights on the edges of faces occasionally take on an odd colouration – shades of teal and bright pink are noticeable in some of these (not all, just some) that feel out of place. And while it's not a negative as such, the overall style of the image is smooth. Very smooth. Not waxy or looking like DNR has been liberally applied, just incredibly clear – which combined with the digital source means the image itself has no texture to it all. Some may therefore simply miss that organic feel to their image, this being such an overtly digital one (but obviously perfectly in keeping with the themes of the film itself). The Matrix redefines reality once again courtesy of Warner's stunning native 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release, which delivers the sci-fi action classic in its original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.4:1 widescreen. The disc uses 10-bit video depth, a Wider Colour Gamut (WCG) and High Dynamic Range (HDR), and is encoded using the HEVC (H.265) codec. We reviewed the Ultra HD Blu-ray release of The Matrix on a Samsung UE55KS8000 Ultra HD TV and a Samsung UBD-M9500 Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Perceivable resolution takes another step forward, revealing fine details in the costuming, actor faces, and production design. The film grain structure is also more prevalent, alluding to the movie's Super 35mm origins. Yet, despite these improvements, I couldn't help but notice that overall sharpness isn't always consistent. As an example, look at Chapter 13, which begins with a Neo-Morpheus conversation. Neo's clothing and Morpheus' face are crisp and detailed while Neo's face seems a touch waxy. Perhaps it's a depth of field issue in the original photography or perhaps some digital smoothing has been applied, I can't quite tell.

The movie was shot in 2K I believe so its "4K resolution" claim can be debated. However the fact that this is 4K out of the box will save your BluRay player and television from upscaling on the fly, so definitely an improvement. Right from the off the Warner Bros' logo carries with it a sense of weight, before the film transitions to the iconic green matrix code that bristles with energy. The sound design is so important for this film and it is impeccably rendered, with a clarity that's enormously impressive.

It is worth noting that, for those with dimmer or entry-level HDR10-only TVs, you might consider using the standard Blu-ray because, without enough nits, the HDR10 grading may appear too dark (it's similar to Pacific Rim).
