To her, I'll be the enemy, but I'm okay with that. Sometimes the villain is the only one who wins because no one else is ruthless enough to fight him." Something happened in the second half. Suddenly, the dialogue became bland and predictable, the charm and bizarre nature of the story fell flat. By the time we reached the twist at the end, it was the only redeeming factor. I think the last half needed more love, and less of an inclination to follow the common genre tropes. And again we absolutely, in no way, needed this romance (and this is coming from ME, you know, the girl who lives and breathes romance).

Of course they don't listen, and of course, they immediately start seeing/hearing horrible things. This is a classic case of Colonizers Gonna Colonize, and they definitely get their due for not listening to Alon or the local government that they had to pay off to get there in the first place. This well-presented and sophisticated article provides information both on the biblical material on sacrifices and offerings and on how scholars have approached this material.

Daddy Ryat who???? How about DADDY TYSON!!!!!! I have been waiting for so long to learn about Tysons history and let me tell you, Shantel Tessier DELIVERED!!!!!!! Tyson is a everything you want in a man and more. He is truly the definition of a Lord!!!!! After his chosen Whitney died, he had a plan to marry her sister Laikyn (Lake) to get revenge on her family for what they had put him through. Lake had always been obssesed with Tyson, seeing the things he would do to her sister, that would make her hot and bothered, but after she thought he had killed her sister, she despised him. He planned to make her beg for him, crave him, be his dirty whore that he would rub in her families face. I can’t get to much into details because YOU HAVE TO READ IT. Twists, turns, anger, sadness and man lots and lots of dirty sex lol. If you haven’t read The Ritual or The Sinner yet, I highly recommend you do, as the characters from those books make appearances in the story to Tyson. my only issue with this book was that i found it difficult to connect to the characters. while i loved alon, i struggled with the other characters. (the other characters were a bunch of americans intent on destroying the island for some quality tv shots, so it’s hard to like characters like that). When you think this world couldn’t get any twistier, these (anti)heroes couldn’t get any swoonier, Shantel proves. you. wrong. The ritual aspect was repeated so much that I was rolling my eyes and saying, "YES I GET IT" blah blah. I want to thank the publisher "Sourcebooks Fire" and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this spooky island story and any thoughts or opinions expressed are unbiased and mine alone!

There were so many twists and turn getting thrown at you constantly that you basically held your breath the whole time you were reading. Just nonstop action and mystery. At the tower, the trio's disappearance is noticed, and Ed launches a search party. They wind up at the Houses of Parliament with Nicola, who develops a crush on Ed. Also, I assume the author wanted to make reveal of the mystery of the evil on the island a slow burn, because we barely get any kind of information of what makes this island so bad.

Book reviews

I'm tired of reading about fmcs who r treated like shit yet secretly enjoy all the nasty stuff that's done to them. Like yes i like me some dubcon situation and all that but when it's the same deal with all the lords, things get monotonous at this point. The one success seems to have been the raid led by Lord Lovat, an eccentric figure who went to war casually dressed with his shooting rifle, but a good soldier. As for the rest, the landings on beaches red, blue, orange, and yellow, as they were named, were disastrous. Upon reading finishing this novel I nearly cried because it highlights our troubled racially tense society. In as much as we'd like to believe that we Americans are free of bias, we are not. Think of the distrust among the races even today. Think Ferguson, MO. Think race riots of the late 60s. Think Tawana Brawley in the late 80s. Pristine beaches, lush greenery, and perfect weather, the island of Kisapmata would be the vacation destination...if not for the curse. The Filipino locals speak of it in hushed voices and refuse to step foot on the island. They know the lives it has claimed. They won't be next. The Sacrifice: Part Threebegins with the Infected invading Millhaven, with the two groups reuniting in the armory, where they equip themselves and plan a route to safety. While Bill speaks with Louis and the two soldiers, Annie and Jeff, Zoey talks to Francis about how he is still his joking self, upon which Francis remembers his past. Two days after the first infection, Francis gets in trouble with the law, and is scheduled for jail. However, the outbreak of the Infection spreads, with his ex-girlfriend Sandra being his first encounter with the Infected. When one of his friends (Duke) kills her and rants about the coming Zombie Apocalypse, Francis realizes the opportunities to be had from such a thing, including the lawless nature of it all.
