Gil, equal parts geek and gonzo, has been alerted to secret Tory moves to scrap a planned tax-raid on pension funds. It turns out that the scheme had been dreamt up by Gil’s sister, Clare, a high-flying civil servant in the Treasury, in the weeks before she was found dead after a hit-and-run accident.

Review: The Whistleblower

I have to say, I really didn't want to go to see this movie. I've seen enough 'shit happening to women movies' in my life, I could well imagine what it was going to be like. If you are a girl it will put you off sex. But still, read the book or see the movie, just so people like Obama do get that we care. For the most part, the characterisations in The Whistleblower are light-hearted and even respectful, but you have to wonder what Ken Clarke did to the younger Peston. As Keith Kendall, the corpulent Tory Chancellor is transformed into a deceitful sexual predator, a long way from the hush-puppie-wearing jazz buff we have come to know. Paatsch, Leigh (29 September 2011). "Film review: The Whistleblower". News.com.au. Archived from the original on 21 February 2014 . Retrieved 6 October 2013. The Whistleblower premiered on 13 September 2010, at the 2010 Toronto Film Festival. [25] Screenings were also held at film festivals in North America, [26] including the 2011 Human Rights Watch Film Festival in New York. [7] This was a book that I had seen and it was the author who sparked my interest. Peston is someone I am used to seeing on the news and this book intrigued me. What I found was a book that initially was slower starting, the first section took some time before the actual main story as such started to emerge. In this time, however, it gave me a chance to learn a bit about Gil and also his character.

Prior to this book, my knowledge of the author had been limited to him being the dude from ITV who asked mostly awkward questions at the end of the daily government covid press conferences. Actually I have since found out, he has his own TV show and has also written several non-fiction books as well as having a stellar political journalist career to date. This however is his first foray into the world of fiction and, tell the truth, it's not half bad either! a b c d e Reed, Rex (2 August 2011). "The Whistleblower Reveals a Truth More Chilling than Fiction". The Observer . Retrieved 8 October 2013.As election day approaches, Gil follows the story into the dark web of interests that link politics, finance, and the media. The deeper he goes the more he realises how wrong he has been. Whitman, Howard (17 February 2012). "Blu-ray Movie Review: The Whistleblower". Technologytell.
