The front sight is there but has no front sight post, so you can't realistically aim with the rifle.

Alright, Grunt! Settle into line! You’ve got your uniform in tip-top shape. You’ve been working on your stance. You’ve got the salute down! You’ve got guts of iron and legs of jelly. This machine gun might look pretty awesome, and your little one will feel like they have the perfect weapon for their job! But you can rest assured, it has the orange cap on the end of the gun that signifies it's a toy. SOLDIERSThe entire rear upper of the rifle lights up really brightly (the piece that is usually the receiver cover); this is blinding if you're aiming down the sights. My son likes his toys to be realistic. It's quite hard to find realistic toy guns (beyond airsoft) that you'd want to give to kids. This is about as close as you're going to get in a cheap toy gun. My pros and cons below are considered with the above nods to 'realism' in mind.
