An adult female lays up to 300 eggs before it dies, around 30 days after reaching adulthood. The average host carries around 20 adult female lice which, if left untreated, can multiply to a host of 5000 lice or more within just a few months. It is the sheer number of eggs produced that can make an infestation so difficult to eradicate. WARNING For external use only. Flammable aerosol. Pressurised container may burst if heated. The kit includes shampoo formulated with the active ingredients of piperonyl butoxide and pyrethrum extract. Together, these ingredients are within a class of ingredients called pediculicides, which experts found effective at killing lice, nymphs, and nits without harming the scalp’s surface. This brand started off with a mousse-based treatment but has since branched out with a protective lice shampoo as well. Although this product works as a beneficial preventative step, it is important to note that this shampoo and conditioner are not suggested for treating an active lice and nit infestation. The product can work together with a lice treatment, but it will not likely kill any active lice and nits on the scalp. It’s for that reason we feel this product is used best as a preventative measure versus anything else. Tumble-dry pillows and change bedding, towels, pyjamas and clothes to reduce the chance of re-infestation.
