About this deal

Loved this!!!! Not my favourite of the HotHoles but gotta admit Vicious was a swoon worthy character. I love his jerkish, assholish attitude. Possessiveness is waaay OTT. But the best thing about him was character development. True that he stays as a jerk until the end and forever but the little changes in him melted my heart. For those of you that love a good enemies to lovers story, this book is pure gold. Vicious is the best kind of asshole. He and Emilia meet when they’re teenagers and they have a… complicated relationship. My parents were servants. We had to work for every penny. I didn’t expect him to understand. Trust-fund kids never did. But I presumed he’d at least pretend, like the rest of them. Friends, I’m just going to say it; the sex in this book is 11/10. Seriously, I immediately had to take a cold shower after, because the angst almost killed me during this reading experience. Like, the sexual tension in this is so damn extreme and some of the best I’ve read in a very long while. It feels like the slowest burn of all time, even though I don’t think I’d necessarily classify it as a slow burn. I don’t know, it’s a really weird reading experience, but so damn gratifying. The dirty talk was expertly done, too, and totally leg crossing inducing if you get what I’m saying.

Human Dignity is The Basis of Fundamental Human Rights. Human dignity is inviolable and it must be respected and protected. Emilia was a heroine you can't help but like. They say the line is thin between love and hate and that's definitely the case here. She wants to hate Vicious and he surely gives her plenty of reason to...and yet, he's like a magnet drawing her in.

When Vicious screws things up - and he does, of course - Emilia makes him really work for forgiveness. You know how I feel about the necessity of groveling, and grovel he does! Emilia is no pushover and she's been at the losing end of his games one too many times. But that isn't enough drama, folks. If you thought we could get away with one major piece of drama, you're thoroughly mistaken. We still have Dean, the sex god (referred to exactly like that by Rosie) Emilia, also known as Millie (or Help by Vicious), first met Vicious at his house's Library when she was looking for the son of her new parent's boss. From the start, he hated everything about her: her hair, her lips, her personality, the fact that she reminded him of a younger version of Jo, his step-mother (later on, we learn the reason for his hate towards Jo). Because of all the above, Vicious makes her senior year a living hell, after all, they are going to the same school, where he is the king with his other three friends and every student is rich as hell, except for her, who is the daughter of the Help.

The only thing that I could've lived without was the whole pen-pal connection. It felt a little too similar to 'Punk 57' for me, especially when combined with the high school bullying theme, and I didn't think it added much to the story. Both of these books were released so close together, that they were probably being written during the same period of time. However, the similarities were noticeable. They probably stand out to me more than usual since I read 'Punk 57' fairly recently.

You will, once I push you far enough,” Vicious snapped, his tone flat and humorless. It felt like he clawed my guts out and threw them on his pristine ironwood floor. He still hates her, and even though she hates him too, they can't deny the sexual tension they have had since they first met. Several things happen and they end up sleeping together. She finally gets to learn the real reason why he needed her, and it is nothing more than to avenge his mother's death or better-said murderer? I was about to run—this conversation obviously wasn’t meant for me to hear—but he caught me off guard. Before I knew what was happening, the door swung open and I came face to face with a boy around my age. I say a boy, but there was nothing boyish about him. Well, enough is enough! Emilia may be too good to be true, but she is stronger than she looks. The groveling in the end satisfied me somehow, but I still think Vicious is dangerous and he can flip out any time. Emilia and Vicious’ story is so good and doesn’t end with a cliffhanger as this will be a series with Vicious’ best friends all getting their own books! The lessons learned, the love that was always there and the writing…
