The following indicators should be taken as only a guide and not a set of hard and fast rules. Starting in 2012, they decided to branch out into the production of spirits as well, developing the Widow Jane brand. The bottle looks impressive, enticing me to try the Widow Jane bourbon. Here is my thorough review on this bourbon after trying it. Presentation and Impressions The Whiskey Widow Jane is one of the great whiskeys we’ve tasted. The 10-year bourbon has deep cherry notes with a slightly tannic finish. DISTILLER: Widow Jane Distillery blends the sourced bourbon (unable to disclose which distillery made it) with their own Limestone Mineral Water from the Widow Jane Mine in Rosendale, NY.

On the nose, Willett 10 Year has lots of oak, heat, sweet brown sugar, and rye spice. We like the slightly less oak, rich vanilla, hot spice on the palate, and lingering finish. Every sip delivers a heightened oak aroma along with hints of vanilla and char while maintaining the trademark of Basil Hayden every sip. 4. Russell’s Reserve 10-Year-Old Bourbon

Wild Turkey is a big name in the bourbon world. But sometimes it doesn’t get the respect it deserves. This is why it launched Russell’s Reserve a few years ago. The shining star of the brand is its 10-year-old expression. This 90-proof, high-corn bourbon is the culmination of almost 100 years of distilling experience between father and son duo Jimmy and Eddie Russell.

Michter’s 10-year bourbon is exceptional in quality and has earned its palace as one of the favorites of whiskey connoisseurs. It boasts 47.2% alcohol content. The scent was squarely in traditional bourbon territory, with its candy corn and caramel, but rounded out with pleasantly spicy, herbal notes and cedar. The palate was much sweeter than the nose let on, while staying well inside the standard bourbon profile boundaries, and that herbal and spicy aspect took on a lighter touch. The woody side evolved from cedar to oak as it went from nose to tongue. The mildly spicy finish lingered for a respectable period.

Part 2: The Ranking

Tasting eight well-made whiskeys and ranking them isn’t easy. The only thing that made this whiskey drop to the last spot was the high rye flavor. If I wanted this much rye in a sipping whiskey, I’d grab a bottle of actual rye whiskey. 7) Bulleit 10 (Taste 1) Bulleit This is a style I actually like a lot. The nose offers vanilla, patisserie cream, toasted oak with oak spices, cherries, a touch of orange, chocolate. Soft, creamy and brilliant! The palate is creamy but it is not oily. Wish the texture was a little bit chewy. Sandalwood aromas with milk chocolate, baking spices and cocoa blend in with sweet but dark Demerara sugar, raisins plums and traces of cashew nuts. The finish is long with molasses and dry with ginger qualities and oak spices. Verdict The source of the dilution water is from the Widow Jane limestone mine that gives the brand its name.
