About this deal

I felt quite sorry for Livy in this book, she’d already lost her sister, and her husband had cheated on her, so to lose her best friend (Julia) as well was awful for her. This is the novel that broke my crappy thriller novel streak. You Can Trust Me was everything I needed it to be and that ending was wild. I completely did not expect how things played out and even if I had known more crucial pieces in the beginning.. I still think I would have missed it because the story was wild. This book is at its darkest in the sections written from the point of view of the killer. His coldness & matter of fact descriptions are chilling. They've been traveling around California in Summer's Land Cruiser and things have been good. They're happy with and supportive of one another. In truth, they're a great match. My favorite part was how the chapters alternated between Leo and Summer. It just built the feeling of suspense up even more … as Summer is desperately retracing Leo’s steps…I kept freaking out… waiting for that moment… when we find out.. WHAT happened to Leo… 🥺…ALSO …brilliant use of June 13th!! 👏👏 The pub date is used in the book and let me tell you…something big goes down on that date! 😬

But despite the ever-present reality of systemic misogyny, 'boys being boys' and the very real truth that even nice guys can be complicit in terrible things just by saying nothing, You Can Trust Me never feels preachy, or like an "issues" book (despite dealing with all of these issues sensitively and with brilliant naunce). The twists and turns pull you along right from the start- and keep you guessing all the way to end. The characters are complex and brilliantly drawn, and even the ones you're not sure you can trust will work their way into your heart (sometimes before shattering it entirely). I have to admit I guessed the baddie from the start, but there were plenty of other twists and turns I didn't expect along the way - and trust me there are a few. Trust is not an obsession, it’s an extension of love. When we truly love someone, we give them our heart to hold in their hands. And when that love is returned, that very trust is balm to our souls. You Can Trust Me

Eager for a big score, Leo catches in her crosshairs Michael Forrester, a self-made billionaire and philanthropist. When her charm wins him over, Leo is rewarded with an invitation to his private island off the California coastline for a night of fabulous excess. She eagerly anticipates returning with photos that can be sold to the paparazzi, jewelry that can be liquidated, and endless stories to share with Summer.

Determined to find her friend, Summer sets out to infiltrate Michael's island. This could be her toughest and most dangerous con yet, but Leo is worth it. This is an exciting thriller that will grab the reader right away – so I am just going to say, hold on to your hats – because every character is far more than what they seem. Whatever you think you know, think again. Thank you to @netgalley, @dreamscapemedia, and @kierstenmodglinauthor for the opportunity to read this #advancedlistenercopy in exchange for my #honestbookreview! This suspense read is dropping November 7.With hell-for-leather pacing and anchored by a pair of con artists with genuine love for each other, You Can Trust Me is as addictive as it is original.” —Eliza Jane Brazier, author of Good Rich People
