I love Jorge Luis Borges, the Argentine author. His short story collection Ficciones, or Labyrinths, is amazing. Borges is probably still the most powerful author I have read who wasn’t just outright writing philosophy. There was philosophy in there with the sci-fi. [1] I'm not going to b*shit you, the life's philosophy of NR resonates with me a lot. Like 99% of cases. This book is nothing more or less, but the essence of this philosophy. Make time for the important things. “I don’t have time” is just another way of saying “It’s not a priority.” Everything by Kapil Gupta, MD. Kapil recently became a personal advisor and coach to me, and this comes from a person who doesn’t believe in coaches. If you want to get rich over your life in a deterministically predictable way, stay on the bleeding edge of trends and study technology, design, and art, become really good at something.”

He has a gift for poetically describing what children are like, what lovers are like, what marriage should be like, how you should treat your enemies and your friends, how you should work with money, what can you think of every time you have to kill something to eat it. I felt, like the great religious books, it gave a very deep, very philosophical, but very true answer to how to approach the major problems in life. I recommend the prophet to anybody, whether you’re religious or not. Whether you are Christian, Hindu, Jewish, or Atheist. I think it’s a beautiful book, and it’s worth reading. [7] Halperin, Alex (March 24, 2014). "Silicon Valley's Avenging Angel". Fast Company . Retrieved April 26, 2020. Specific knowledge is found by pursuing your genuine curiosity and passion rather than whatever is hot right now.” The other side of it is sales. Again, selling has a very broad definition. Selling doesn’t necessarily just mean selling to individual customers, but it can mean marketing, it can mean communicating, it can mean recruiting, it can mean raising money, it can mean inspiring people, it could mean doing PR. It’s a broad umbrella category.[78] I have a young kid now, so I’ve got a lot of child-rearing books I use more as reference material than anything else. I recently read some Emerson and some Chesterfield. I have a Leo Tolstoy book here.

Instead, actively engage in conversations, listen to educational videos, and look up ways to build wealth while living a meaningful life. Don’t lose sight of the present, yet keep an eye on the future. More importantly, don’t inflate your lifestyle as you earn more money. Save and invest them to build a future out of the rat race, instead of upgrading your treadmill. Lesson 3: To become happy, learn how to be neutral and quiet. The internet has massively broadened the possible space of careers. Most people haven’t figured this out yet. I’m reading a book on René Girard’s mimetic theory. It’s more of an overview book because I couldn’t make it through his actual writings. I’m reading Tools of Titans, Tim Ferriss’ book of what he learned from a lot of great performers. Don’t be the person who says that money is the root of all evil, that you don’t need them to be happy, or that you’re not interested in building wealth. Sure, these affirmations are true, up to a certain point. However, many use them to justify not growing their mindset and accepting the status-quo in their life. Truth be told, money is a great thing to have, especially if you know how to use it. You get rewarded by society for giving it what it wants and doesn’t know how to get elsewhere. A lot of people think you can go to school and study for how to make money, but the reality is, there’s no skill called “business.”[1]

Here, I’ve collected four of the most impactful things I learned while writing this book in my own words. Ravikant is a Fellow of the Edmund Hillary Fellowship. [5] As a podcaster he shares advice on pursuing health, wealth, and happiness. This is a jarringly huge statement: Nothing outside of your own mind has any affect on your own happiness. You have control of your interpretation of the events of your life, and you can choose whether they make you happy or unhappy. The skill of interpreting the events of the world to make you happier (or at least not unhappy) is learnable. Part II - Philosophy The real truths are heresies. They cannot be spoken. Only discovered, whispered, and perhaps read To quote Naval’s words, “ If you’re a perpetual learning machine, you will never be out of options for how to make money. You can always see what’s coming up in society, what the value is, where the demand is, and you can learn to come up to speed.”a b Dec 2014, Eric Smillie '02 | Nov-. "Avenging Angel". Dartmouth Alumni Magazine. {{ cite web}}: CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list ( link) CS1 maint: numeric names: authors list ( link) You need leverage to get rich. Leverage can be found in labor and capital, as well as in code and the media. However, these aspects are only beneficial if you have earned the trust of others. As a result, establishing trust is critical, and you should do so as much as possible under your own name. Accept responsibility for your actions and take commercial risks in your own name; society will reward you with responsibility, equity, and leverage. It’s much more important today to be able to become an expert in a brand-new field in nine to twelve months than to have studied the “right” thing a long time ago. You really care about having studied the foundations, so you’re not scared of any book. If you go to the library and there’s a book you cannot understand, you have to dig down and say, “What is the foundation required for me to learn this?” Foundations are super important.[74]
