Two pigs, Napoleon and Snowball , compete to be in control. Napoleon trains some dogs and uses them to terrify the other animals into following him. The dogs chase Snowball away for good. The posters work equally well printed in A4 or A3, and you could even miniaturise them further to serve as individual GCSE revision resources. Cow - Cows provide us with milk, which is used to make dairy products like cheese, butter, yoghurt and ice cream! Cows might also be kept for their beef. Female cows are the ones that give milk, male cows are called bulls, and baby cows are called calves. Napoleon and his loyal supporter, Squealer , make changes to the Seven Commandments. They keep the best of everything for the pigs and force the other animals to work for them. At first, Napoleon appears to be a strong leader, but it soon becomes clear he seeks power for himself. He's determined to doTask your class with visualising what a farm looks like by using the At The Farm I See Writing Frame. The animals at Manor Farm are unhappy. Farmer Jones treats them harshly and they've had enough. Old Major, a respected pig, reveals his dream: a vision of a fairer life where the animals are in charge. Then, Old Major dies peacefully and, inspired by his vision, the animals take over the farm. A wise pig, Old Major , inspires the animals to dream of a better future . One night, the animals angrily take control of the farm and chase Mr Jones away.

The animals work together to make a better life. They create a set of rules to live by called the Seven Commandments . These rules include the idea that "All animals are equal". The animals rebuild it but it is then blown up by the neighbouring farmers who hate the idea of animals successfully running their own farm. Animal Farm is an allegory which means it has a hidden, more complex meaning. In this case, the hidden meaning is about Orwell's views on the Russian Revolution. He shows how those in power can be corrupt and can oppress the people they're supposed to help. Orwell also shows how those in power can use propaganda, lies and rumoursOld Major is admired by most of the other animals. His dream of a better life inspires them to take control of the farm. In this money-saving bundle you get a poster of each of the following characters: Squealer, Snowball, Napoleon, Old Major, Mr Jones, Boxer, Mollie, Benjamin, and Moses.

Each poster features multiple relevant quotes, linked to character traits. These traits serve as the ‘point’ in a PEE/PEAS/PETER style response. For a while life on the farm is good for the animals. But, with Napoleon the pig desperate for power, will the animals get to live the lives that Old Major dreamed for them?To maintain their power, the pigs use various forms of propaganda that they spread throughout the farm. As they read the book, students recorded these instances of political propaganda, along with how the pigs used the propaganda to control other animals. Teach your class key vocabulary by using these lovingly illustrated Farm Posters. This resource features lovely hand-drawn illustrations of things you can expect to see on a farm. This includes animals likes pigs and goats as well as farmers, tractors, and more. These Farm Posters are great as a general reference, in addition to working well as part of a display or as a discussion prompt.

Introduce your class to the lovely story of Grandad’s Farm which shows what life on a farm looks like. Boxer , a hard-working horse, collapses from exhaustion. Instead of looking after him and thanking him for his loyalty, the pigs arrange for him to be sent to a horse slaughterer . They profit from his death. The new leaders are pigs called Napoleon and Snowball. The animals change the name from Manor Farm to Animal Farm and agree Seven Commandments for a better life. Then, the humans try to regain control, but they are defeated in the Battle of the Cowshed. As a final project, students created their own posters using a propaganda strategy from Animal Farm, and they wrote artist statements explaining their creative choices. As you examine the posters, it may be useful to read through our list of propaganda techniques to understand the visual strategies that students are using.
