About this deal

The Zeta SL is the brand’s go-anywhere, do-anything piece. The SL upgrades the Beta, Arc’teryx’s classic Gore-Tex adventure raincoat. Easy to clean: Gore-Tex recommends washing garments as needed, and says washing and tumble drying can improve water resistance. This review covers all of the important information you need including key features, waterproof performance, weight, price, best uses, competitor comparison, and much more. One more little feature is the hanger loop that’s high enough quality. It doesn’t look like it’ll break anytime soon, which is always appreciated. Complaints Durability: Like the coat, Arc’teryx calls the Zeta SL an “emergency shell.” But with 40 denier ripstop nylon I’m not concerned about durability if standard use is confined to trail walking.

For technical hiking, trekking, durable and protective designs for remote and varied conditions. GORE-TEX While it is true that Arc’teryx gear was out of reach for me personally for years, once I made the leap, I only wished I would have splashed out the money sooner. Cuffs: The cuffs are elasticized to seal in the warmth and keep out the wind, but loose enough for lightweight gloves to slip underneath them.

Impressively lightweight and weatherproof, we put Arc’teryx’s hiking shell to the test in the Pacific Northwest and Grand Canyon

The Zeta SL truly excels as a hill walking piece in the unpredictable UK weather; but, due to it's next to skin comfort and light weight, also works just as well as an emergency shell as it does an all day mountain piece.

Zippers: All the zippers are seam sealed, and I never had water get through. They feel rugged and don’t snag. The author just after dog sledding in Willow, Alaska. The Zeta SL kept out the wind out and handled frosting without a problem. Photo by Chris Kennedy/Coffee or Die.

Anyways, without further ado, let's move on to typical buyer profiles because it's highly likely that you're one of these guys. The Theta AR has a looser fit overall. Here are the approximate measurements of the garments itself:

Corporate responsibility: Arc’teryx adheres to the Bluesign standard, which ensures that companies act responsibly and sustainably with regard to people, the environment, and resources; and follows the responsible down and wool standards. Arc’teryx also sells used gear. Gore-Tex with C-Knit construction is soft and supple against the skin and great when paired with just a t-shirt, which many hikers will appreciate.

The Basics

Arc’teryx markets the coat as an emergency rain shell, so I decided to use it as a snow shell. In Alaska. In the winter. I wasn’t disappointed. Low, trim-fitting hood is a little more restrictive and less versatile than Arc’teryx’s traditional StormHood found on its hardshells. High performance weather protection and materials, emphasizing versatility for multiple activities. Other features include watertight lower-leg zippers, snapping zip fly, and a fully articulated waistband. Not surprisingly, people want to wear the Zeta rain pant more. Bottom line for the Zeta SL vs Beta SL comparison: The Beta SL line of Arc’teryx is no longer in production. However, you may find remaining one in online stores in a decent price. Unless it is cheaper than the Zeta SL, we highly recommend the Zeta SL. It is a way better product than the Beta SL. Based on the manufacturer’s categorization the Beta Series (Beta SL) are for mountain Multi-Use, on the other hand the Zeta Series (Zeta SL) are for hiking and trekking. To sum up, when we evaluated both of them side by side, in overall, we found Zeta SL is a better option and suitable for across the board. Zeta SL vs Torrentshell 3L Review

Once your return is processed, please allow up to 5 (five) working days for the money to appear in your bank account ( this is the bank's policy, not ours) What I liked best: The Zeta FL is light, insanely water resistant, and breathable. The hood snugs up to keep out wind and rain. The zippers feel sturdy, don’t snag, and keep out the water. Climbing, trekking, travel, or city… the Zeta SL is a jill-of-all-trades. Arc’teryx Zeta SL Fit and SizingFabric: 20d nylon laminated in a 2-layer Gore-tex (N20p Paclite Plus) construction, with two-way stretch in key areas for improved comfort/articulation One of the stand-out features we appreciate most on the Zeta SL is the stiffened bottom hem fabric on the legs. This really allows you to stretch the limits of these shell pants. For outdoor enthusiasts, it can become troubling to choose the right layer for the activity at hand. If you want optimal performance, you end up with three different types of shell pants; one for skiing, one for hiking, and another for emergency use on your ultralight adventures. The Zeta SL comes impressively close to serving the most needs in a single pair of shell pants—and that hem design helps make it so. While we do not recommend buying these pants for the purpose of mountaineering, if you take them on a trip to try it out for the first time, they will likely be adequate, and that stiffer fabric at the hem of the lower leg will help prevent you from catching your crampons on the pants. While not designed for biking, we tested on our bike commuters for mobility, and they’re now the riders go-to pants,” she said. The Zeta SL uses a 40-denier nylon ripstop which is a little thinner than the 50D used on both the Outdoor Research Foray or the Marmot Minimalist. While it is thinner, we don't think there is much, if any difference in toughness, tear-resistance, or overall longevity. In fact, the Zeta is more tear-resistant and offers longer-lasting weather resistance than the price pointed Patagonia Torrentshell, REI Essentials, or the Marmot Precip. Best Applications
