The Midway Legacy Edition arcade cabinet was revealed alongside the first trailer for the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie. The cabinet can connect to the internet over Ethernet or Wi-Fi , though it had some problems keeping a wireless connection in testing. Arcade1Up has an online system for its games, with support for drop-in/drop-out multiplayer for people who own the same cab. You can make your games open for anyone, or just for people on a friends list, and manage all that for your entire collection (if you have more than one cabinet) with the Arcade1Up app. Multiplayer is nice in theory, but we were unable to find any open games available during testing. The online system keeps leaderboards for each game, though, so you can indirectly compete with your friends or everyone with a connected Arcade1Up cabinet. Gorgeous design, excellent arcade action, and an amazing addition to any retrogaming enthusiast’s game room, office, or collectibles room. The Midway Legacy Edition uses Mortal Kombat II decals on the front, sides, and light-up marquee. Raiden appears on both sides, raising his hand to create lightning. You don't actually need quarters to play it, but the cabinet does have a faux coin panel on the front to further add to its classic arcade look. It's not raised, though the design does give it that aesthetic. Other new cabinets that aren't in the Legacy Edition lineup, such as Killer Instinct, will have molded plastic faux coin doors. Arcade1Up sent a riser along with the Mortal Kombat cabinet, and as a 6'2" individual, I highly recommend getting one if you plan to add any these cabinets to your collection. It brings up the machine another foot off the floor, just enough to make it playing it comfortable from a standing position. I still ended up using a bar stool from my kitchen to play, but the riser is a great addition.

A scanline filter can’t really reproduce the look of a CRT monitor when showing old games. Still, the cabinet’s 17-inch LCD offers a bright, colorful, and crisp picture, with arcade graphics upconverted to 960p on a 1080p screen sharply through emulation. It doesn’t add any detail, but it doesn’t make the huge pixels look fuzzy or blotchy, either. All of these have been rescaled to fit Arcade 1Up from years of reproducing arcade art. All of these are from original full size cabinet files that I have spent endless hours on redoing each an every single marquee for accurate arcade reproductions.
