About this deal

However, if you have a larger space to heat, or are planning on running the heater for long periods of time, the Duux Edge 1000 Smart Convector Heater was a close runner up. It's slower to warm a room, but once warmed the heat stays around for longer, potentially making it more energy efficient over the long term, and it can slowly but surely heat a large space of up to 20sqm. Which type of heater is cheapest to run? As such, the Ideal Home team has tried and tested bestselling electric heaters from all of the leading brand names to help you find the right one for you. We've reviewed indoor heaters from Duux, Dreo, Russell Hobbs, Beldray and many more, including comparing the performance of both convector and fan heaters. To find the best electric heater for your needs, it's important to consider how you will be using it. Beat the cold with the Beldray Handy Plug-In heater set; a must-have in any home. Featuring a ceramic heating element, choose between 2 speed settings and set the adjustable thermostat between 15 and 30°C to create your desired temperature. Change the direction of the heat using the 90° swivel design and alter the settings using the LED display and controls. Designed with safety in mind, the heaters have a 12 hour timer, cool-touch case, automatic cool-down function and thermal cut-out device.

The next step for us was to look at all of the products that fall within the Heaters and radiators category, of which we found 55 products at Argos. So we pulled together all of the prices of these products to analyse the average prices as well as finding the cheapest and most expensive options. Of the 55 products, we discovered that 50 were more expensive and 1 were cheaper than Beldray 700W Handy Plug In Heater. Prices from BELDRAY Noise levels The Dreo Space Heater has a noise level of just 37.5dB (the oscillation raises this to 40dB). I found it to be equivalent to the level of noise of the Beldray fan heater I tested – quiet enough to talk over but still noticeable. One other thoughtful feature is being able to switch off its electronic beeps. Shop our ceramic radiator heaters to keep your home warm and toasty, with smart models that can be controlled from your mobile phone for ultimate convenience. Wonderfully portable, our fan heaters push heat around the room for fast heating power. To heat your personal space, choose a mini plug-in heater, for warmth exactly where you want it. Great at retaining heat and keeping your home at a comfortable temperature, our oil-filled radiators are a good choice for heating whole rooms. For the best of both worlds and to keep your home comfortable all year round, our range of hot and cold fans offers a cooling breeze in the summer and a warming blast in the winter. The next step after looking at products in the same category, was to look at products from the same brand, BELDRAY.As well as two heat settings, the Beldray also offers a cool air setting, meaning it could be a versatile year-round appliance. In practice, I didn't find the cool fan setting that effective as the breeze it delivers is quite gentle. It certainly can't compete with the best fans on the market, but I suppose it could be a useful additional feature. Easily beat the cold this winter with the Beldray 700 W Handy Plug-In Heater, a compact and portable heating solution for any home. There are three main types of indoor space heater, and all offer slightly different pros and cons. We've broken down the main differences below.

Next up is material. Read through the product description for Beldray 700W Handy Plug In Heater to get an understanding of the materials the product is made from. Some materials will obviously be known for delivering better quality item than others. You might also have decided that you’ll only accept a product made from a particular material. As convector heaters are slower to heat up from cold, it can be worthwhile to look for one with a timer so you can set it to come on before you want to use a room. Their added bonus is that whilst the warmth tends to disappear the minute you turn a fan or halogen heater off, with a convector heater the warmth lingers for much longer.Designed with safety in mind, the portable heater has a handy 12 hour timer, automatic cool-down function and a thermal cut out device. More information on quality can be found in this old but still very helpful article from Harvard Business Review. Design The Beldray Flatbed Portable Fan Heater is functional rather than stylish. When compared to the other heaters I tested, it stands out as the most basic looking, but given its price point – at normal retail price it just pips the Russell Hobbs 700W Ceramic Plug In Heater to being the cheapest heater in our round-up – its ease of use, and performance, this is easily overlooked. Halogen heaters: Halogen heaters use an incandescent light bulb that creates infrared heat i.e. it heats objects rather than the air, meaning that you’ll feel the warmth almost instantly. This type of heat is known as radiant. Because of how they work, they’re ideal for warming people sat close to the heater, but less effective in larger rooms, or if you're at a distance from the heater.

The only negative I have about the plug-in heater is it makes a loud buzzing sound when in use, which can be distracting if you don't like white noise while working from home or watching television on an evening. Complete with a 90° swivel design, simply plug the heater into any room and alter the direction of the heat to suit your needs. Energy use As one of the highest wattage products I tested, the Challenge 2kW Convector Heater could be pricier than others when running on high over long periods of time – although the thermostat does switch on and off once it’s reached the ideal heat. It would cost 54p an hour to run on full power (2000W) for an hour, 34p an hour on medium (1250W) and 20p an hour on low (750W) at a rate of 27p per kWh. How to choose

Noise levels There’s no stated dB for this heater but it’s not terribly noisy when running. The high fan speed has more of a whine, so if you find it obtrusive, the lower speed may be more suitable. The next step was to try and narrow down our search even more. So we’ve already looked the prices of products in the Heaters and radiators category. Then we’ve also looked at the prices of products from BELDRAY. So this step combines the two and looks specifically at the price you’d expect to pay for BELDRAY branded products in the Heaters and radiators category. My garden office measures just under 15sqm and is where I work day-to-day, so it was the perfect place to test out how toasty each space heater could make an otherwise unheated room. It could be a great investment for those working from home through the winter months, university students who want to warm up their halls of residence, or anybody who simply wants to keep their central heating costs to a minimal this year. The controls themselves consist of an on-off switch and three buttons; a plus and minus button for raising and lowering the desired temperature (within a 15-30°C range), and a Mode button for changing the fan speed, alongside an LED display. I found the controls a little difficult to navigate as they aren't marked very clearly, and the operating instructions left a lot to be desired, with the instructional manual not always describing the functionality accurately. You’ll definitely need the instruction manual to hand for setting the heater's timer, as it’s not obvious how to do this without it. In short, ease of use is where this electric heater falls down compared to some of the others I’ve reviewed, in particular the super simple Beldray Flatbed fan heater which was refreshingly hassle-free.

Performance Besides good looks, the biggest plus point of this convector heater is the size of space it can comfortably heat – up to 20sq m – and that it has an IP24 rating meaning that you can use it in damp spaces. The fact you can also choose to wall-mount it via the included wall kit is another bonus. It also comes with 'open window detection' functionality (meaning it turns off if a sudden drop of 5°C in temperature within 10 minutes is detected, to save on wasted energy), timer, and night mode, meaning you can leave it on a low heat to keep a bedroom toasty whilst the display dims so it doesn't keep you awake. So let’s carry on with our Beldray 700W Handy Plug In Heater review and explore the product’s pricing.Easily beat the cold this winter with these Beldray 700 W handy plug-in heaters, a compact and portable heating solution for any home The main downside I found to its design is the 1 metre long power cable. I found ihis wasn’t nearly as long as the cables on the other heaters I tested, potentially limiting where it’s plugged in and where it can be used. The brand of product you buy can vary in importance, from person to person. Some people will of course be much more particular about the brands they will use. Whilst others aren’t interested in the brand and are more interested in the overall quality or price of the product itself. Thankfully BELDRAY is a brand that many customers have grown to love over the years and is very popular for items in the Heaters and radiators category.
