About this deal

these two are the cutest. literally the definition of high school sweethearts istg. and omg the bantering was absolutely perfect. it’s a long time since i’ve read a cute romance, with a healthy relationship, and it was definitely needed ! i didn’t realize how much i’ve missed this type of rom-com couple. wes and liz are adorable, and i love them so much ! a total comfort couple, and that’ll definitely put a smile on your face <3 i liked their connection, and the lighthearted romance. i loved the small gestures wes did for liz, but ngl i kinda wish she made a little more for him too, because if there’s one guy that deserves that it’s wes. he was just always there for her. and please, can we talk about how taylor swift coded they are ? i'm happy to tell anybody who cares to know that this book, did indeed, make me very happy ❤️‍🩹 reading this to fill the void finishing the infernal devices had left in me was quite possibly the best decision of my life. had I read it any other time, we all know what the outcome might've been. Michael Young had a soft accent that made me want to personally handwrite a thank-you note to the great state of Texas for making him even more appealing than he’d already been. I crossed my arms and pretty much melted into a puddle as I enjoyed the view. I tried to keep my expression neutral as I listened to Wes ask my Michael to come to his party. I mean, Wes did hang out with the guys that Michael used to know, but still. They were best friends all of a sudden or something? Cool.” I worked to give him my top-shelf smile, even though I was dying over the fact that Wes had screwed up my meet-cute.Because Wes Bennett got off on messing with me—he always had. In grade school, Wes was the guy who’d put a frog in my Barbie DreamHouse and a decapitated lawn gnome’s severed head in my homemade Little Free Library. In middle school, he was the guy who’d thought it was hilarious to pretend he didn’t see me when I was lying out, and then water his mom’s bushes, “accidentally” spraying the hose right over me until I screamed. I was. And I think I regret all of it. I miss your clothes and curly hair. You look best when you’re you.”

In this rom-com about rom-coms, in the spirit of Kasie West and Jenn Bennett, a hopeless romantic teen attempts to secure a happily-ever-after moment with her forever crush, but finds herself reluctantly drawn to the boy next door. Call me a psychic because my prediction was correct🥰. WES BENNETT RUN ME OVER WITH YOUR CAR. REJECT ME SO I CAN MOVE ON. Rtc when the pain diminishes. Buddy read with Maggie :) This book was also funny too: a lot of the lines made me laugh, and though it could be cheesy, cringey, and cliche, isn't that what you want out of a rom-com? But Jocelyn didn’t know any of that. We’d grown up on the same street but hadn’t become actual good friends until sophomore year, so even though she knew my mom had died when I was in fifth grade, we’d never really talked about it. She’d always assumed I was obsessed with love because I was hopelessly romantic. I never corrected her. Recommend to everyone!! Especially fans of Tweet Cute! (not to be that person, but this reminded me of it)

Better Than the Movies is about a hopeless romantic Liz, who tries to ensure a happily-ever-after moment with her longtime crush, but instead finds herself captivated to the lad next door. wes bennett:he's the standard. he's so caring, so gentle, so accepting of liz and all her weird quirks. he also does have a personality outside of being the main love interest, and i love that. he's just as weird as liz, and compliments her so well. the minute he said " pretty is just a visual"he made a permanent home for himself in my heart. i love him so much, he can do no wrong in my eyes.

He turned and walked away from me like I hadn’t been speaking. Just… walked toward his house in that relaxed, overconfident way of his. When he got to the porch, he opened the screen door and yelled to me over his shoulder, “Have a good day, Liz!”It wasn’t about friends grabbing dinner at the Cheesecake Factory before heading up to the high school for awkward conversation while the coupled-off couples found their way to the infamous grinding wall. wesliz fit so well together, they're literally weird and weirder. they made each other laugh, their banter was so entertaining, the tension, the yearning, the jealousy - it was so so good. the way their relationship gradually developed throughout the book, and liz got to see and know the real him, chef's kiss. ya contemporaries don't get better than this. Liz, I love that dress.” Joss threw me a side-glance between cleaning up each eye with a cotton swab as we walked into the bathroom. She pulled out a tube of mascara and began swiping the wand over her lashes. “The flowers are so you.” Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have issues when characters lie in books but at some point I think to myself “will this character ever experience consequences and will she learn?” I knew Jocelyn wouldn’t get it. She thought prom was no big deal, just a high school dance that you dressed up for, and she would find me completely ridiculous if I admitted to being disappointed. She was already peeved by the fact that I kept blowing her off on dress shopping, but I never felt like going.
