Apply 2-3 coats of mid coat depending on the desire color required. Leave 10-15 minutes between coats. Leave 60 minutes before applying 2K Show Clear. Please also note that localised paint repairs are common with collectable and classic cars and if they have been professionally carried out then they may be impossible to detect, even if we see the car in person. So, unless we state otherwise, please assume that any vehicle could have had remedial bodywork at some point in its life.

In the engine bay, the S62 engine presents very well, and there were no leaks or signs of any misting that we could see. The engine pulls well, and the redline adjusts as the car heats up as it should. Deep clean the interior. Took all the seats out. They've come up good but I still want to get both front seats and arm rest dyed

The guy that bought it lives outside London. I am not up-to-date with the maintenance or the condition of the car but if anyone wants to know what I had done when I had it, that’s not a problem. I don’t have anything to do with the sale but if it does sell I hope it goes to a good home that plans on keeping it for along time Widely regarded as one of the best performance saloons to ever come out of Germany, the BMW E39 M5 is thought to be one of the most reliable M cars, and with good reason. Having been used as both a daily driver and a weekend toy, we see no reason that this E39 couldn’t return to being a high-performance daily driver for the discerning driver or BMW enthusiast, should the next owner wish to do so. I've always liked cars with colour combinations that are a bit different and when this car came up I didn't want to let it go but i have spent a lot of money to get it to look the way it does now.This is the first time I have fitted CSL wheels to any of my M3's and I'm happy I went for this wheels this time. As far as we could see, everything else is working as it should, though the sat-nav system is somewhat outdated, with the last update taking place around ten years ago! Nonetheless, it’s good to see the original system still in-situ.

But I have never seen a work done in orange, and I'm not sure about the guy's suggestion... and they have dozens of oranges! Now, my plan is to get them sandblasted, and then powdercoated (I appreciate the quality look and durability of those jobs). The first time that a V8 engine had ever made its way into a production ‘M’ car, the E39 M5 saw the introduction of the now-legendary 4.9-litre, naturally aspirated, 7,000rpm redline S62 engine, which was available exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox, something which seems unthinkable in today’s world of a dual-clutch transmissions and semi-automatic ‘boxes. However: the car sits lower to the ground than other vehicles I've had, and it is a magnet for road pebbles and debris and my only regret is that I did not get a lower front and front-of-hood clear bra installed. But I think that's a good idea regardless of paint color.

Wonderfully original, unmolested and mechanically excellent, this is a fantastically usable example of the classic E39 M5, which also benefits from long-term ownership and an extensively documented maintenance history.

Throughout its lifetime, the M5 continued to impress both journalists and enthusiasts, as BMW constantly tinkered with the appearance and mechanicals of their ‘super saloon’ in the pursuit of perfection. In 2000, Car and Driver magazine in the US perhaps summed up the E39 best, simply calling it “the most desirable sedan (saloon) in the world” which we’d say is high praise indeed.
