About this deal

The Inexorable: Are more difficult to charge, their Contagion boosts AP against nearby enemies, and their relic can regenerate wounds on Inexorable vehicles Similar to Dark Imperium, this was a mid-sized starter set that still exists in the world, but it no longer produced. This includes a Lord of Contagion, a Foetid Bloat Drone, 5 Plague Marines, and 10 Poxwalkers. Another possible source for models. I think that the whole concept of Boarding Patrols is weird, and I think it goes along with my feelings of the current Kill Team campaign: it seems like it wants to be Space Hulk for all the factions, but they have never gone full Space Hulk (Terminators vs Genestealers.) I suppose if you bought two of these Boarding Patrols, you could come up with Terminators vs Genestealers Space Hulk battle, but only on a limited scale. Anyway, it seems weird.

There are quite a few Death Guard players bouncing around the Goonhammer offices, and Death Guard are an army that are very beginner-friendly, allowing you to be very sloppy with your technique and still achieve great results. We’ve written up a bunch of ways to paint them here: If you missed it, we look at the latest pricing and values of the new Warhammer 40k box sets in separate posts below: This set also contains a skittering Venomcrawler, two hulking Obliterators, and 10 Chaos Cultists who are waaay out of their depth on Team Vashtorr, facing down 10 Intercessors and five Deathwing Terminators who make up Azrael’s honour guard. You also get two Dark Angels Primaris Upgrade frames and a set of 155 Dark Angels transfers. Vashtorr Dice Set Skaven are ascendent in Guy Haley’s The Rise of the Horned Rat . Verminlords stalk the World-that-Was, and two rival kings prepare to face the full force of Queek Headtaker’s verminous horde in the fourth book of the End Times series, which is heading to audiobook next week. Wrath of The Lost

Sample Lists

Lord of Virulence: a character armed with a twin plague spewer and a plague claw, equipped with a range of deadly and contagious weapons that can reduce corridors of enemies to a foul sludge. Some players opt for more Daemon Engine-heavy builds that enjoy a little bit more speed and ranged firepower, zipping around the board. The Fleshmower bloat-drone is a potent weapon in your arsenal, and Myphitic Blight-Haulers make great, cheap threats that can zip around and melta things off the table effectively. Although competitive rules for shooting out of line of sight have made Plagueburst Crawlers less good for their mortar fire, they can still be nasty threats on the table just rumbling forward and soaking up enemy fire while blasting things with Entropy Cannons. Best to steer clear of Defilers, though – they just aren’t particularly good. This box can be used to assemble a variety of units – the recommended build for Boarding Action games is a Lord of Virulence, two units of five Plague Marines, and three Deathshroud. The Corsair Voidscarred bring all the toys from their Kill Team set, taking up the lion’s share of the points but punching far above their weight with psychic powers, blasters, fusion pistols, and a shuriken cannon. The Voidreavers deploy light with a pistol and power sword each, but have the option of switching to long-ranged shuriken rifles should you be raiding an area with plenty of fighty foes like Tyranids and Orks. The Warhammer Community team has come up with a few of our own sample lists to see what’s possible.

Bloated with corruption and sworn to Grandfather Nurgle’s service, the disgusting, rotted bodies of the Death Guard stink of decay, the joints of their armour dribbling putrescent slime that corrodes metal and burns flesh. These horrific disfigurements only enhance their skill as killers – each of Mortarion's sons is a fearsome warrior who brings death and infection wherever they tread. To discover any foe lurking within a space hulk is a worrying thought, but the Death Guard's presence is the stuff of nightmares. This Boarding Patrol contains 17 models in total – one gunslinging Kelermorph inspires a team of 10 Acolyte Hybrids, who can also be built as Hybrid Metamorphs, while a hulking Abominant is joined by his little Mindwyrm Familiar friend, and five nearly-as-hulking Aberrants. Warhammer 9th edition has made a strong case for gaming at any size, and the Combat Patrol and Incursion level games allow new players to get in games at standard levels with some mission support. You and your opponent can agree to any amount of points to play, but ideally shoot for 500 points, 1,000 points, and finally 2,000 points as milestones for having a “complete” army. In terms of optional extras for the Legionaries, you can give one a Balefire tome at an extra 20pts to make one a Psyker, giving you some extra things to do in the Psychic Phase. There’s also the option to gain a Mark of Chaos for each of the chaos gods for an extra 15pts – each one will give you a different bonus to your dice rolls or buff a stat, but with the points limitation of Boarding Actions, you will have to consider carefully if it’s worth the cost.

Tie the whole ‘many-heads-one-body’ look together with this set of 10 embossed resin shoulder pads for your MKVI Tactical Marines, each showing the profane Hydra iconography of the Alpha Legion.
