Real Value [4]– Sets at this price point are rare, and even rarer for it to feel like LEGO didn’t cut corners Whilst there is nothing overly challenging about this build, which will likely take the average builder 30-60 minutes to complete, some of the build techniques used are quite clever. Take the fan/air vent to the left of the television, great effect using an inverted 2×2 turntable. The sofa is also a fun build, utilising similar techniques to those used in the LEGO Friends (TV show) sets. As part of a second wave of “The Infinity Saga” sets (though released simultaneously in the US), everyone’s favourite Asgardian – not counting Loki because he’s a Frost Giant – has returned in his post-Blip form for new set Bro Thor’s New Asgard, a wonderfully detailed LEGO rendition of Thor’s Endgame Norwegian hangout. This buildable play-and-display set helps to develop the imaginative and creative skills of Marvel movie fans aged 7 and up. I'm not trying to be rude or mean and hope this isn't received that way; I do think the original person's comment probably could have been worded more diplomatically.

His shirt has what I think are red hibiscus flowers and leaves on them, which is slightly inaccurate as the movie version has pineapples on them. And yes, Thor’s alternate face has his eyes lit up with lightning, because “This is the ideal make body. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.” The set doesn’t look like much from the outside, and we’d have to wonder why anyone would display it this way when all the details are on the inside. That said, the messy mix of materials isn’t actually out of place for the buildings in New Asgard. The exterior walls aren’t likely to be the focus of anyone’s display, but they still look decent. There aren’t any obvious gaps or cost-cutting measures to be seen. Beneath the sign is a sentence in Norwegian “velkommen til Tønsberg” which means “Welcome to Tønsberg“, a small village located in Norway which housed the Tesseract for decades, and is the location of New Asgard – a new settlement of Asgardians following the destruction of their planet.

The Completed Model

The playset measures over 3 in. (8 cm) high, 4.5 in. (12 cm) wide and 4.5 in. (12 cm) deep and combines with other LEGO Marvel building kits for even more fun. Overall, Bro Thor’s New Asgard is an incredible set for it’s price-range and pieces number, you get a lot of fantastic design for your money with this one.

There are some really funny Easter Eggs and great Avengers Endgame references thrown in – such as this New Asgard Times newspaper, which has the headline “5 years after the blip”, which dates this as 5 years post-Thanos’ snap. Another small detail that made me smile is that LEGO decided to include some 1×1 transparent yellow plate to represent beer in the floor-mounted keg. While on display it’s unlikely anyone will ever see these plates, so it’s a little Easter egg just for the set builder. Following the 'snap', Thor enters complete depression and abandons his muscular physique, becoming noticeably overweight. Minifigures appear poorly-suited to recreating different body types, although this torso decoration seems effective and continues onto the hips. Additionally, these chequered trousers correspond precisely with the onscreen character. Bro Thor’s New Asgard just screams fun, and you can immediately tell that the LEGO and Graphic Designers had plenty of fun with the set, with all the fun little Easter Eggs and references thrown into the mix. Beginning with Korg, this is my biggest disappointment with the set, in all honesty. Given the character’s size and stature in the cinematic universe, a Big Fig would have made far more sense than the minifigure we get here. It’s not to say I don’t like this minifigure, but it doesn’t represent the movie version of the character very well at all and I don’t think many people would have been able to guess who this is supposed to be had it been part of a different set. Thanks to Marvel fans’ need for the Bro Thor, this Korg variant is better received.Somewhat unusually for a LEGO set, the instructions have you place a number of things at odd angles off of single studs, including a pizza box, newspaper, a picture from Thor’s more victorious past, and the TV set. The star of the set is of course Bro Thor, who stole the New Asgard scene, when it was revealed that the Asgardian God of Thunder, just let himself completely go, and turned flabby over a diet of beer and pizza.
