About this deal

Next up we have another stunning Rotary Skeleton watch. Rotary are one of my favourite brands for affordable skeleton watches offering a wide selection with some great value for money. This model has this stunning blue detailing on the dial that looks very impressive in my opinion. The Swatch Transparent Watch is exactly what it sounds like – a timepiece that utilizes a transparent hard plastic material for its case. Orient watches are synonymous with class, and they continue to prove that with the Orient Star Modern Skeleton Automatic Watch. This one has Breguet-style watch hands and an onion crown. Brooklyn-based Stührling has only been around for 15 years, but the brand has already established a good reputation. This analog watch is a 51mm stainless steelwith an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, a folding clasp with push buttons, a water resistance of up to 50 meters, and 17 jewels.

While the watch is made from durable materials like stainless steel, it does not have very good water resistance. This model is only resistant to 30m, so while it can withstand some splashes of water, you cannot take it swimming. The watch features a genuine leather strap, automatic movement, Krysterna crystal, and a 50m water resistance rating. Before diving into the list, let's clear up some of the jargon you can expect to come across. First off, there are two other terms that tend to be lumped in with the subject of skeleton watches, namely “open heart” and "openworked." "Open heart" tends to describe a type of dial aperture that reveals usually just the balance wheel beating away but very little else. ”Openworked” is a term that is commonly used as an alternative to "skeletonized" since being popularized by Audemars Piguet (more on that below). Essentially, openworked and skeletonized are interchangeable in describing the same aesthetic. So, on this list there will be skeleton(ized) and openworked watches but not open-heart watches, which could be a topic to explore another time. This is the 96A187 model, and there’s also another version from the same collection with rose gold-tone accents ( the 98A166 ).If you like to see the technical side of things, this would be an excellent watch for you. These days, more and more companies are producing creative designs, so you will not run out of excellent models to choose from. This watch is popular for its unique “ cut out” design—it’s a skeleton watch, but the case is not as busy as the other watches on this list (you can only see some of the moving parts). The stunning design is intricate yet simple, which makes it perfect as both a dress and an everyday watch. The last watch on our list today is another very impressive skeleton watch from Fossil. You can take a look at more popular Fossil watches here. This model has a huge exposed dial design with a hovering effect used the hold the movement in place. Extra features of this skeleton timepiece include a automatic movement, leather strap, 50m water resistance, and a mineral glass crystal. Tissot offers an inexpensive entry into the world of skeleton watches. Their Chemin Des Tourelles model is available new for 1,200 euros. A new T-Complication Squelette Mechanical with a manual caliber and small seconds costs only 200 euros more.

Ulysse Nardin’s nautical history as a renowned supplier of marine chronometers meets its modern-day rep as a pioneer of avant-garde technical watchmaking in the Diver X Skeleton, a limited edition of 175 numbered pieces. Its 44-mm-diameter, blue PVD-coated case has a rubber protector around its screw-down crown and a unidirectional dive-scale bezel sculpted from blue Carbonium, a high-performance, super-lightweight material used to make airplane fuselages and wings for the aeronautics industry. A blue PVD “X” motif dominates the skeletonized dial, whose hour markers and luminous-coated hands appear to float over its tiered, multi-layer construction, adding to the sense of depth. The Ulysse Nardin Caliber UN-372, a meticulously openworked version of the base Caliber UN-171, also bears the “X” shape on its oscillating weight and stores a lengthy 96-hour power reserve inside a mainspring barrel with a cover made of the same blue Carbonium as the bezel. If you would like to read more about Hamilton’s history and other collections, you can read our previously published review of the company here.

If the cut-out dial style of the Open Heart model is not for you, another similar design and that you can consider is the Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic Skeleton . The dial features bronze hour markers and luminous hands. It also features a stunning ‘open heart’ display along with two additional sub-dials. Orient managed to incorporate all these flourishes into the dial without making it look cluttered, which is an impressive feat. There are some, however, who expressed dissatisfaction, saying how the watch stopped working after a few months. This model has a beautiful automatic movement that can be viewed through the open heart design of the dial. Extra features include a genuine leather strap, mineral glass, and a 30m water resistance rating. This model has an automatic movement, genuine leather strap, mineral glass, and a 50m water resistance rating.
