from the swamp and lagoon country to the south. The squatters there, mostly primitive but good-natured Okay, so it’s not the rosiest, most upbeat of pictures, but hey…this is horror after all and when it comes to creating atmosphere and imagery to tantalize and terrify, these stories are gold. A bas-relief, weird events, dark cults, secret documents and obscure references, everything points to an ancient creature, dormant since eons ago, something immensely powerful, and beyond horrifying. The mythical Cthulhu. why I continued to feel that Wilcox, somehow cognisant of the old data which my uncle had possessed,

First published in 1928, in Weird Tales magazine, this launched what is now known as the Cthulhu Mythos. It was here, as much as his earlier unspeakable horrors like Dagon and The Tomb and The Nameless City, that formed what is today known as Lovecraftian; but it was great Cthulhu that gave this sub-genre it’s definition and a face from which to leer down upon poor, lost humanity. Absolutely gorgeous book, great binding quality, and filled with everything a keeper needs and then some. I really like the rules summaries in the appendices, that's a nice touch and very useful to print out a copy or two for your players. So is it plagurism when you take an adventure from the '80s or '90s, change the location and repagage it? I was so excited to see this "new" adventure set in 1930 which would be a good continuation of our campain. Imagine my disappointment to see that it was actually just a dust off of a side adventure set in South America... including the trip to the moon and an encounter with Shubby. It is also assumed he got inspiration from William Scott-Elliot's The Story of Atlantis (1896) and The Lost Lemuria (1904), which Lovecraft read in 1926 shortly before he started to work on the story. [8] The number and variety of NPCs in this campaign makes this a very fun sandbox. Student hijinks in Chapter 1 & 2 is the icing on the cake in this campaign.
