Description

A curl custard, in my opinion, is a kind of gel hybrid. As well as defining the curls, as gels do, custards also moisturise the hair and add hold. What hair types are best suited to curly hair custards? At this stage, avoid finger-combing your hair as you’ll risk smoothing the product out of your curl clumps and eliminating the curl-definition you’re after. For styling purposes, always use a microfiber towel or a t-shirt to scrunch. This guarantees the best results with no added frizz. A Treat for Your Curls Featuring ingredients such as coconut oil, aloe vera, jojoba oil, sweet almond, shea butter and avocado, this custard will treat your curls to the moisture, hydration and boost they have been craving all along. Follow your usual hair care and styling routine and apply your typical go-to products – lotions, leave-in conditioners, etc. – as always, leaving the Cantu Define & Shine Custard for last. Once you’re ready, rub enough custard between your palms to coat your curls evenly.

Easy to apply and distribute with no flake or crunchiness, this gel has all the traits needed to become your new favourite styling product. Foams in pump dispenser bottles don't contain propellants. This is why foams tend to be wetter, lighter and less concentrated than aerosol mousses. What hair types are best suited to mousses and foams? The Cantu Define & Shine custard fits perfectly into the Curly-Girl treatment and will make your transition from 3a to 4c natural hair go by seamlessly. However, it might be too heavy for 1 or 2 type curls and could end up weighing your hair down significantly. Minimal Quantities & Maximum HoldSome Cantu products are specifically for everyday use, such as the Shea Butter Daily Moisturizer. Using other shampoos and moisturizers every day can cause hair to get frailer. Does Cantu cause hair loss? For the past two years, the hair industry has seen a rising trend in women going natural: no more curling or straightening irons, no more harsh chemicals to get their curls popping, no more relaxers to bend your hair’s will into straight strands. I absolutely adore Cantu as a brand. Almost all products that I’ve tried from Cantu have worked great on my hair. Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion is my absolute holy grail cream. Cantu Curl Activator Cream is a staple among many of my readers. So the Cantu Shea Butter Define & Shine Custard was the next one I tried. Custards work well for all hair types, and a little usually goes a long way, so play around with using different amounts. As with all the other products mentioned in this article, your hair density will determine the amount of product you should use.

As its name suggests, this product works best for curly girls with kinkier coils. It will smooth and manage frizz and flyaways. Curls will be left manageable, touchable, and without that dreaded crunch. It’s also easy to find this product at your local store. Design Essentials Honey Curlforming Custard: The way these containers dispense products is different, meaning they come out in varying consistencies. Aerosol cans contain gaseous propellants, like Propane, that become liquified under pressure (when you press the can's button). When the ingredients leave the can, the liquid propellant becomes a gas which helps break the spray into droplets and produces a finer spray than a pump bottle. ( Source) I’ve used Cantu Leave-in Conditioning Repair Cream for years, but I stopped using it at some point.

What order should I apply my products?

In addition, after trying out these products I was really pleased with the results. I really like my day 1 hair. Ingredients after the first 5 to 8 ingredients are in negligible amounts and can be ignored if you are not trying to avoid any ingredient in particular – Read the Ingredients List, Not the Product Claims This product line has been around for quite awhile, and is constantly putting out great products for all curly types. This curl forming custard works great if your curls need a little extra TLC to maintain their shape. The honey also helps manage frizz and adds shine. Cantu Define & Shine Custard:

Gives such a beautiful cast just minutes after you’ve started drying your hair – this is absolutely great when I wash my hair at night and don’t get time to diffuse it. So I just wait for the cast to form and go to sleep in wet hair Leave-in conditioner is - you got it - a conditioner that you don’t wash out. While, essentially, you could leave a small amount of your regular conditioner in (I do this sometimes), leave-in conditioners are specially formulated to keep curls hydrated and conditioned between wash days. Like curl creams, leave-ins add moisture to the hair but have a much lighter consistency. They are great for adding moisture to fine hair without weighing it down. Gels are well-suited to all hair types, but due to the different consistencies available, some may provide you with better results than others. The results you get with gels are also very much down to application techniques. I find that most gels work for my hair, but gels that contain lots of oils (the closer to the top of the ingredients list, the higher the concentration), can weigh my hair down and leave me with looser curls. The best gels for me are those that contain protein, like Bounce Curl Light Creme Gel.

Minimal Quantities & Maximum Hold

Again, product application is down to personal preference, but, generally speaking, creams should be the first product applied. I always apply a curl cream first and then a gel. So, what is the difference between a mousse and a foam? The phrases are often used interchangeably, and, sometimes, products that I would refer to as foams ( Cantu Wave Whip) are labelled mousses. The main difference between mousses and foams is their containers. Traditionally, foams are found in pump bottles and mousses in aerosol cans. With its deliciously fruity fragrance, this custard treats your hair to a little spa-day that is as effective as it is good for the soul: nothing beats leaving the house with soft, perfectly styled hair that looks good and smells good. Although my curls stay moisturized for at least 2 days, I noticed that from day 3 my hair became frizzy. Could I get a better result? Yes absolutely. So, if you’re wondering if you can you put Cantu on your scalp, I wouldn’t advise you to do so even if you don’t have a sensitive skin.

If you look at the ingredients list of the Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream and Shine & Define Custard, you’ll see that fragrance is very high up on the ingredient list. I didn’t investigate what was causing my hair to become dry. Did I have a ‘protein overload’ or could it be harsh ingredients? I don’t know. This Cantu products review found that the brand has certain products, such as their Grow Strong Strengthening Treatment, that can help you grow your hair as they provide protection, protein, and nourishment. Can Cantu make straight hair curly? Resist the temptation to go overboard, even if you feel your curls might be lusting for more custard. This product is extremely effective in small quantities – overdoing it will only be counter-productive. No, you cannot make your hair curly using Cantu products. Curling irons or more hands-on methods are required. Is it bad to put Cantu in your hair every day? Description by Cantu: Ultra moisturizing ingredients make the driest curls defined and healthy.
