We are looking forward to policing the event and being amongst the communities who visit year in and year out, contributing to the celebration across the bank holiday. The bus routes affected by the diversions are: 2, 7, 16, 23, 27, 28, 31, 36, 46, 52, 98, 205, 228, 295, 316, 328, 332, 414, 452, N7, N16, N28, N31, N98, N205, N207. The small disposable helium gas tank will inflate approx 30 of 9 in latex balloons or 15 of 11 in latex balloons or 12 of 18 in foil balloons. Due to road closures between Saturday 27 August (10pm) to Tuesday 30 (early), day/night buses will be diverted away from the carnival area.
Many Underground stations are open as usual. These include Bayswater, Paddington, High Street Kensington, Kensal Green, Queen’s Park and Shepherd’s Bush (Central line).This year there will also be outreach officers out and about, meeting the public and listening to any concerns. You see bunting at all kinds of events, from private parties to huge community events. Some of the occasions that you might hire or buy bunting for include: Treating latex balloons with Ultra Hi-Float (available separately), can make them float up to 25 times longer! Each year, around two million revellers take to the streets of west London for a huge celebration rooted in Caribbean culture.
Most roads within the carnival area will be closed from 6am on Sunday, August 28 to 6am on Tuesday, August 30. Kensington and Chelsea also enforces waiting restrictions in Campden Ward and a small part of Pembridge Ward on Sunday and Monday. Bus stops within or next to the carnival area will make people aware of any diversions or disruptions via their displays.
To the north of the carnival area, buses start from the Prince of Wales public house on Harrow Road. To the south of the carnival area, buses start from Notting Hill Gate.
A number of road closures and parking restrictions will be in place for the carnival, affecting Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster residents. You can even decorate your carnival with us!
