Autonomous minehunting systems are already operating in Scotland, driverless Pacific 24 sea boats are undergoing testing, numerous aerial drones are employed by ships both for reconnaissance/intelligence gathering and target practice for air defence. Classical white design inherited from Cetus Series and made of PA12 material, Cetus X frame has an excellent impact resistance in drop & impact. The motors are brushed and protrude below the propellers within the airframe, but this causes no issues in terms of design and build quality. They deliver less power than their brushless counterparts, which isn’t a problem for indoor flying, but outdoors the drone could struggle or even get blown away in light winds. If you did decide to venture outdoors with the Cetus Lite and it began to get swept away by a gust, pressing the Arm button on the controller will stop the motors and make the drone drop to the ground. Besides Betaflight FC, there’s also another option for the Cetus FC with optical flow camera and LiDAR sensors, that enables altitude hold flight mode. In my opinion I think the Betaflight version is better, it’s simpler and altitude hold flight mode doesn’t really teach you how to fly, it only makes things more complicated. Master angle mode, then learn air mode, that’s it. The antenna is removable, you can swap it out to a higher gain antenna if you want. The antenna connector is RP-SMA.

Compact and Dedicated Design

The BetaFPV LiteRadio 3 is as basic as it can get, it has just enough controls and switches to let you fly a drone. The gimbals are not the best quality but get the job done. There is no screen and menu buttons, the only status indicator is the power button LED. To configure the radio and internal ExpressLRS module, you’d have to use BetaFPV’s own configurator.

Work has already started, a concept image is shown to illustrate this article.The BETAFPV LiteRadio 2 SE remote is a very basic and compact radio. It’s actually loaded with OpenTX firmware – a very powerful firmware used on nearly all the popular radios nowadays. But because it has no screen and menu buttons, you can only change settings by connecting it to your computer and through OpenTX companion software. From the bottom you can see it has an optical flow camera sensor (P3901 RSN) for determining the aircraft’s ground velocity, and a LiDAR component for detecting altitude. These sensors are used for the “Normal” flight mode which I will explain later.
