About this deal
The sound of the Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 also needs to be carefully evaluated. This is because these headphones change their sound depending on whether they are used without or with personalised listening profiles. There's so much going on here that it would almost be easy to overlook what's missing, and that's more effective ANC. It's not terrible, by any means, but for over-ear headphones with this kind of passive isolation, it's a little surprising they're not better that way. Similary, if there is an important notification prompt tone from the device that is not currently streaming, the audio will pause briefly to notify the user, and then streaming will resume normally. The pair of Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 headphones sent to me for review was a brand new set, so I allowed them to run-in for around 48 hours before starting to make any notes and observations.
Skullcandy and Anker have a fair bit in common. Neither is going to be confused with more recognizable and "elite" brands like Sony, Bose, or Sennheiser, yet they find ways to be appealing. The focus isn't on achieving the clearest sound or being better than the best out there. It's about getting real value every time you put them on your ears.Yes, as well as to a phone, tablet, MP3 player, laptop, and other devices with a Bluetooth connection. It’s like having prescription glasses for your ears — it will allow you to hear your music EXACTLY as it was meant to sound. When your battery has about 45 minutes of play time remaining (about 15% charge), and again with about 20 minutes (8%) of playtime left, a voice prompt will notify you “Battery low.” At this time the Skull-iQ App will search for available devices and once found, an image of your headphone will appear. Simply press “Connect” and you should be linked and ready to go. (Please also note, if you’re in a crowded space, be sure the app isn’t attempting to link to another Skullcandy product nearby.)The balance is a welcome step in the right direction for a brand that seemed satisfied with drowning everything in an ocean of rumbling bass. You won't get the same warmth you would with more balanced tuning out of the box, but I see no reason why most wouldn't enjoy listening to tunes on these headphones for extended periods. However, from using it a little, it could offer better control over the sound, as you can’t toggle the regions that are actually problematic. You get a small selection of EQ presets (left), or you can play with a custom EQ (right). Microphone Quality
