Ah sure, we're all doing OK. You just have to go on the best you can. You know, things like that happen in every family and that's just how it is. During his career, in the UK Daniel has amassed forty-eight Top 75 albums, including nineteen Top 10 albums, with seventeen of them this century, a feat not achieved by any other recording artist.

Paul Lynch claims Booker Prize-winning novel was ‘attempt at radical empathy’

They have this company and they wanted just to get their expertise out there and to see would I do a video with them. And I looked at it, my manager looked at and we said sure, 'Why not?!' So we planned to do it for them - I didn't go to them, they came to me.

Hopefully again the football team will get through to some big competition, and the girls being away there at the World Cup too, all them things... it's all positive and it's just great. And those fans keep coming out all these years later – and they’re bringing their children and grandchildren too.

'GREAT IDEA'

I’m not a million miles from 40 years ago, really, I am still singing My Donegal Shore, it sits in there along with Down at The La De Dah, you know. But Kathleen, my sister... she just died very suddenly. So especially for her own children and her husband, they just... it's just so hard for them. As I said, that happens a lot of people. So what can you do? That's the way. No. Never. I wouldn't have any desire to be honest. I think it's a thankless job. Honest to god... at the end of the day, they can only do so much, and maybe I'm looking for something and they can't give it to me, and then I think they're rubbish. You know what I mean? And I hope people enjoy - I just record what I love and hope that people will enjoy it too. You find somebody might come along whose mother or grandmother really loved the music and they come just out of a memory for them, and they realise that they really enjoyed the show, and they stay coming. Ireland’s best-loved singing sensation was born Daniel Francis Noel O’Donnell on December 12, 1961. His favourite food is mince and potatoes, favoutire holiday destination is Tenerife and his all-time favourite song is Miss You Nights by Cliff Richard. It seems to be amazing and I think it's fantastic to see somebody from Ireland like U2 there - they're on the cusp of the whole music scene, they're on the top of the wave… it's just amazing, after all the years doing what they're doing. And they say the show is out of this world so you'd have to be proud of them. I think that would go for any artist at the moment, and the understanding that this is how we have to deal with it. Daniel will support the album with a number of TV/Radio interviews, as well as embarking on an Autumn tour. In a statement he commented: "I'm thrilled to be in the UK charts yet again after all these years recording. A mix of up-tempo songs and ballads, I Wish you Well includes two ‘Buble-esque’ tunes - Under A Spell of Loving You, written by Fergal Flaherty and Always There written especially for Daniel by Brendan Graham and Rolf Loevland, who wrote You Raise Me Up.
