Description

The amount depends on how much the baby weighs. The usual dose is 150-200 ml of the drink for each kg of the baby’s weight, each day. This can be given over 24 hours

If you are/might be/planning to be pregnant or breast-feeding consult your doctor/pharmacist before use. The doctor will calculate how much to give your baby, depending on how much they weigh. This is usually about one to one and a half times the amount of fluid your baby normally has in 24 hours If nausea and vomiting are present with the diarrhoea, small but frequent amounts should be drunk at first. In the event of diarrhoea and depending on the extent of dehydration (loss of weight assessed at less than 10%) 150 to 200 ml/kg/24 hours of preparation may be given. Dissolve contents of one Dioralyte sachet in 200ml (approx. 7 fl oz) of drinking water. Use fresh drinking water for adults and children.Pregnancy and breast-feeding Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. This includes if you are planning to get pregnant or think that you might be pregnant.

Important information about some of the ingredients of Dioralyte Relief Dioralyte Relief contains a source of phenylalanine (aspartame). This may be harmful to people with something called ‘phenylketonuria’. Dioralyte Relief contains 2.5 vol % ethanol (alcohol). One dose contains 191 mg of ethanol, which is about the same amount of alcohol as 4 ml of beer or 1.7 ml of wine. This can be harmful to people with a drink problem. Also take this into account if you are pregnant, breast-feeding or giving this to a child, have liver disease or epilepsy Children over 1 year: One sachet after each loose stool, you can take up to 5 sachets each day, for up to 3 to 4 days. Dioralyte can be taken to help prevent dehydration throughout all episodes of diarrhoea and vomiting as long as you are not advised against its use by a healthcare professional. It is often used alongside an antibiotic in treating traveller’s diarrhoea. This is a condition that occurs after consuming contaminated food or drinking water, usually in a foreign country, most often caused by a bacterial infection. If you are travelling it is a good idea to carry Dioralyte with you as a precaution.
