About this deal

Do not crush, chew, or break a Dulcolax tablet. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water. Enema – squeeze the tube of liquid gently into your anus. The information leaflet which comes with your docusate will explain how to do this. If your doctor or midwife recommends bisacodyl, rather than lactulose or Fybogel, it's OK to use it while you're breastfeeding. It does not seem to pass into breast milk and is very unlikely to affect your baby. If diet and lifestyle changes do not work, your doctor or midwife may recommend other laxatives, such as lactulose or Fybogel. These are more suitable to take during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Bisacodyl and breastfeeding

Normal and regular bowel movement is important for most people. However, what is ‘normal and regular’ varies from person to person. Some may have a bowel movement every day, others less often. Whatever it is like for you, it is best that your bowel movement has a regular pattern. Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe for you to use this medicine if you have other medical conditions, especially: Docusate is occasionally used in pregnancy and there is no evidence to suggest it will harm your baby. However, other types of laxative are usually tried first, because there is more information to say that they are safe. Docusate and breastfeeding Whatever the cause, constipation can be uncomfortable. It may make you feel bloated and heavy or generally ‘off colour’. Sometimes it causes headaches.
