About this deal

We are particularly proud of this result” commented Matteo Lunelli, President of Ferrari Trento – because we have always believed that the quality of our work should be evaluated by taking the whole of our range into consideration and, especially, their constant quality over time, as evidenced in our non-vintage wines”. This “pearl” stretches over twenty hectares on the hills north of Trento, where a cool territory and gravelly soils provide the grapes made into their three Trentodoc wines.

For Edoardo Montresor, Wallenburg is a passion. Thanks to her great love of the Trentino region, the Trentodoc wines she produces express character, strength and elegance. The year 1899 was when the first bottles of Metodo Classico sparkling wine were produced in Trentino, thanks to Arminio Valentini, a pioneer in sparkling wine production in the Vallagarina. Every year, this competition created and presided over by Tom Stevenson, the world’s leading expert on sparkling wines, places Ferrari Trento – with its extraordinary number of medals – among the world’s top producers. This year these awards contributed to the fact that Italy won exactly the same number of Gold Medals as France, and that Trentodoc was Italy’s most prize-winning denomination. An Italian classic and a terrific value, the Ferrari NV Trento Brut is all Chardonnay that opens to crystalline luminosity and brilliance. The bouquet is straightforward and confident, delivering a clear and precise message of good cheer and easy-drinking appeal. There are notes of citrus, white peach, breakfast pastry and drying notes of crushed mineral. This is the quintessential Italian aperitivo wine." 91/100 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, February 2021 It was in the 1950s however, when the company passed into the hands of the current owners, the Lunelli family, that things started to take off. Along with their own vineyard holdings they work with up to 500 other growers in the Trentino mountains making them the biggest producer of the region's sparkling wines.Their range of vintage wines under the Perlé label are among the most well known and highly regarded, but they also make several other cuvées encompassing Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Noirs and rosés al of which maintain a consistently high quality.Ferrari Brut in magnums, which had already been judged “Best in Class” among the Trentodocs, was crowned “Best Italian Sparkling Wine” on 10 th December at the Championships’ virtual, online ceremony. The land, formerly used for mountain pastures, has been turned into vineyards thanks to the most modern viticultural techniques, trying to enhance the natural beauty of the area.

With its mountain viticulture (the Dolomites), Trentino is an area well-suited to the production of sparkling wines of great elegance and complexity. Large diurnal temperature range and high altitudes ensures high acidity and freshness in the grapes. With 300 acres of vineyards, Ferrari represents the largest estate in the Trentino region. Tenuta Maso Corno, an estate that surrounds a centuries-old farmstead and extends over the slopes of the Lessini Mountains facing the Little Dolomites, has a fan-shaped vineyard at 500 metres above sea level overlooking the Valle dell’Adige. Cantina Resom was founded in 2018, when brothers Tommaso and Luca Moser decided to continue the path taken by first grandfather Silvio and then father Marcello. Cantina Salim was established in Alto Garda, 500 metres above sea level, amid the luxuriant vineyards of the Maso (farmstead) of the same name. This project is based on a combination of boldness and new perspectives. Metius is less a company and more a project aimed at pursuing perfect quality.
