Despite being postponed indefinitely in April as the result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the new release dates for Forgotten Waters - which includes a UK release on May 18th and US launch on June 5th - are two weeks earlier than estimated, publisher Plaid Hat said. Forgotten Waters’ successor will not include Vega on its design team, with Ellis and Mr. Bistro returning alongside new co-designer Donald Shults.

Some cards have an effect that activates when discarded. These effects only resolve when players discard specifically for it. When a player discards for any other reason (e.g. when burying treasure or discarding down to 4), do not resolve "discard" effects. Story cards function similarly to treasure cards, but are not treasure cards and cannot be buried, discarded, stolen or used to pay a treasure cost.

But like most boundary-pushing expression, it’s imperfect. The heavy reliance on content means your time with Forgotten Waters is limited. The five scenarios in the box each take roughly two sessions spanning from 90 minutes to two hours, and they will likely stand up to a couple of plays a piece. After that you’re simply left with this wonderful epitaph to time spent with loved ones.

The purpose of the objective card is to remind players what their current goal is. At all times, exactly 1 objective card will be in play. Gameplay involves you deciding which (numbered) tiles to sail into. These trigger the Crossroad options. The game also comes with a book with different locations, corresponding to your decisions. Each one has worker placement spots, which entice players to explore or speak to the captain. But also you have to consider things like: how will you feed the crew? If a player would ever put a 5th card into play, they must first discard an existing treasure or they may choose to discard the new treasure. Supplies +1 for each card discarded in this way. These booklets are not just mere fluff though. Your pirate has goals, skills to record and even different endings depending on what they achieve during your sea-based exploits. Your endings and rewards also include the five weird answers you created too, it ties the whole thing together beautifully and gives each person around the table weight, depth and makes the group chat together at each turn of the story. Lastly, we’ll be able to add content! More entries, more scenarios, more everything. WHAT ARE THE TECHNICAL DETAILS OF THE APP? We’ve landed upon a mysterious archipelago. At certain points in the game, you’ll be able to fill in a circle on your player constellation. The more circles you can fill in, the better pirate you are! You need to complete enough branches on your constellation by the end of the game to get the best ending for your pirate.
