About this deal

The main homescreen is fine and offers standard charts chronicling your activities for the day. But if you want to drill down into more specific information about your workout or ongoing progress, you have to navigate through a series of sub-menus that seem to have been put together at random. hingga 14 jam dalam mode aktivitas dengan GPS dan detak jantung optik; hingga 11 hari dalam mode menonton, termasuk pelacakan aktivitas, notifikas dan pelacakan detak jantung optik

We used the Forerunner 630, a more dedicated running model, for a number of months, but the fact this used a touchscreen irked. No such issues with the 735XT - this is all button, meaning you can fondle your wrist without looking for the right button on the screen to finish a race or save an activity. The buttons are really easy to hit in the water, and the screen is also highly visible underwater, with the stroke detection also working well in our testing, with the data being very easy to interrogate at the end, as mentioned.

I’m less enamoured with the Garmin Connect app. It offers an impressive amount of information, and will provide data on everything from the number of steps you’ve taken, to your stride distance and cadence while exercising. The problem is that all the data is dumped in one of the most obtuse user interfaces I’ve ever experienced. The screen is low res compared to some of the smartwatches on the market - it’s not going to rival the Apple Watch 3, for instance - but it’s perfectly legible in all conditions, without needing to switch off to save battery. Hit the Down button on the watch to cycle through the watch's various screens, which include heart rate, a summary of daily activity and a summary of your last saved workout. I liked this feature, since it meant that I could look up workout stats without using the Garmin Connect app. If you have enabled the Forerunner 735XT to receive notifications, you can also view calendar events, the weather and any notifications you usually get on your phone (more on that below). Performance

However, the watch’s high price alongside complexities with its advanced functions make it overkill for anyone but the most hardcore of fitness fanatics. The same proved true with cycling, where I found the built-in heart rate monitor to be one of the best I’ve used. The Garmin watch presented realistic figures time and again, never once indicating that I was in cardiac arrest, or had the heartbeat of a hummingbird – which I experience occasionally on both the Basis and Band 2. It’s got a clear screen, good battery life, great accuracy and the ability to give deep insight into a number of facets of your fitness life - and it’s also advanced enough to be the perfect companion in something like a marathong Should I buy it? This software should only be uploaded to the unit for which it is intended. If this software is uploaded to a GPS unit other than the product it is designed for, it will render the unit inoperative. Knowing this, and we found it to be really accurate in our marathon training, can help you over a long race by making sure you don’t cross your lactate threshold and start getting into oxygen deficit. It’s a really nice feature and one Garmin is nailing in its range. We did find that the accuracy of the length counting stuttered on occasion, and that’s something that’s prevalent throughout the Garmin range. It’s not massive and every single time, but we couldn’t trust the accuracy of the length counter. Both devices are water resistant to 5ATM, making them suitable for wearing in the pool, sea and shower. Smartwatch features

The interface of the Garmin Forerunner 735XT is pretty easy to use when you get your head around it - and find the myriad secret functions enabled by holding down various keys at different times. The Garmin Connect app is a fairly divisive platform - we’re fans of the way the app can just do so much, but it can get a bit overwhelming at times. Peringatan gerak (menampilkan pada perangkat setelah tidak aktif beberapa lama; berjalanlah beberapa menit untuk mengatur ulang) I started my first run without waiting for a GPS signal. No matter — the Forerunner 735XT was able to record distance and pace while also looking for a signal. After a little more than 3 minutes, I saw a notification that the watch had found a signal, and it continued to record the run without a hitch. Having used watches that sometimes needed 30 seconds or more to find a GPS signal, I appreciated this feature a lot. On subsequent runs, the watch found a signal within seconds — I barely had time to start stretching.

In a word, at some of the recent prices, yes. It’s a great, sleek watch with so many functions, but no issue if you don’t use them all.For semi-enthusiast runners, cyclers or swimmers, or more casual exercisers, it’s overkill and there are far more cost-effective options available. The personal coaching element is a big bonus that adds yet another incentive to not only exercise more, but try harder while doing so – I’m a big fan of it. As you view workout details on the watch, there's even more data, including calories burned, elevation and run cadence (or strides per minute). I learned that I max out at just under 180 strides per minute, which Garmin said is the target for most runners. I've been running for almost 21 years, and I never knew this. You need the HRM Tri to get a truly accurate Training Effect score and access more advanced data, such as your VO2 max, but even without it I found the metric a useful incentive to really push myself mid-workout. There's also a Training Effect number, which uses your heart rate to measure the intensity of the exercise to indicate if you are simply maintaining your fitness level or improving it. For my short runs, my Training Effect number was between 3 and 4 (improving), but it was 4, or highly improving, on my longest run.
