Jo Sollis, editor, acquired world all language rights directly from the authors. The book will be released on 25th May to commemorate Georgia 10 years after her death. My conclusion is that I am of the opinion that because of the seriousness of this offence no minimum term should apply.” Reynolds then used Miss Williams phone to text her mother telling her she was staying with friends overnight.

He said: “You watched her die in circumstances where you could have saved her - and doing so was a central part of your pleasure.” I was dreading him getting anything less,” says Lynnette. “I couldn’t stand the possibility he might one day be walking the streets again, or I might turn a corner and come face to face with him.

Who was Georgia Williams?

I'm not going to describe how Georgia died, where they found her body, or what happens to Jamie after he's arrested. I'll let you find all of that out when you read the book. However, I will mention the important things here: Georgia didn't deserve to die the way that she did, and her parents do a solid job of memorializing her in the book. In August 2011 he pestered a girl, also with red hair, and when she made it clear that she was not interested in him reversed his car into hers. Again the police were called. Another drag for me was the constant rehashing of how the courts, police, probation, therapists, etc failed them. The first mention was enough, then there was the report itself, then a constant rehashing of how they failed to keep Georgia safe. Georgia's father, Detective Constable Steve Williams, her mother, Lynette, and sister, Scarlett, left the court as Crigman detailed how she was murdered in May. Our Georgia is a devastating accounting of the horrible aftereffects of what happens when a family member is murdered.

Reynolds, who had worked in a shop, was sentenced in December 2013 when he became the 46th person to be handed a whole-life term and one of the youngest in history. Two weeks later Reynolds's stepfather handed in indecent images to police that he had found in the teenager's room. The images included pictures of women on to which he had superimposed nooses. Reynolds kept his head bowed, his arms clasped around his body as Crigman described how Reynolds had groomed and manipulated Georgia. He said she had no romantic interest in Reynolds but had agreed to go to his house in May this year to help him with what he claimed was a photography project. The judge added he was satisfied Reynolds had “been obsessed” with carrying out his sadistic fantasy for at least five years.

Texts and messages between Reynolds and Miss Williams were also read out in court in which he had spoken of his romantic feelings towards the teenager. It is a very powerful moving memoir from Lynn and Steve about what an amazing daughter Georgia was her love for life and for all the people around her. The sheer determination this family has shown is amazing, especially, how after a murder this brought the family the powerful strength for the quest for justice. They did not falter in their fight to try and change the future of policing, for future families that become victims of crime. I think after reading this book that Renolds was a chillingly disturb young man whom I think nothing, or nobody could get through to. Plus, it is very important not to forget that there is a family suffering for the rest of their lives due to his actions. Sadistic Reynolds strangled the A-level student, took photos as he abused her body and then dumped her naked corpse in woodland. And now Georgia's mum Lynnette has chronicled their loss in her book, Our Georgia.

Who is Jamie Reynolds?

Sadly, it turns out to be a very sad story that could have been avoided as Lynn exposes a system with so many failures, into not only the police taking their eye of Renolds when he was younger and committed his first crime, but also the miss communication between psychiatrists and psychologists that warned agencies including the police that this young man was very dangerous. OUR GEORGIA is part true-crime story, part biography, part memoir, and part enumeration of the litany of ways the police and other government officials screwed up. I like giving out the money,” Lynnette says. “It’s like Georgia handing it out, saying, ‘Enjoy yourself, do well’.”
