appearance almost right out of the gate, some waiting until the final minutes -- make sense in the larger context, and the smaller ones are just nice streams and bridge the gap between the 80s version and today. The pacing is right, the story is right, the characters are right, and the level of Summoning the Spirit: Making Ghostbusters: Afterlife– Director Jason Reitman gives us the deep dive on the film, its legacy, how and why it was made and essentially gives us all we need to know in this segment. Most all of the supplements, aside from a few trailers, are located on the Blu-ray disc. It seems that as technologically advanced as we are, we’re either unable or unwilling to put all the extras on one disc.

We Got One! Easter Eggs Revealed– Essentially a look at all the references found in the film, some obvious and others…not so much. There’s a lot done right in this one. It’s a far cry from the 2016 version which seemed to try to make more of a statement than an entertaining film. If you could change the locale of the original film and move it to the mid-west, this is most likely what you’d get. Director Jason Reitman has taken the reins from his father, Ivan, who helmed the original. And Reitman has helmed a few good films in his burgeoning career, notably Up in the Air, The Front Runner and Young Adult. In short, Ghostbusters: Afterlife gives fans more of what they want (or wanted), but also manages to spin things in a new direction. And with the critical and commercial success of the film, don’t be too surprised if there’s another one in the near future. Video: How’s it look?terrific, and they get to act and have fun, not just wait around for the next brain-dead gag. This is a refreshing film and everything needed, a true torch passing picture that is well versed in both franchise mythos and well capable or forging its own identity and path forward for the

In listening to the Dolby Atmos mix I found it to be of the active variety that made steady use of the platform. Its use of sounds placed above is a mix of atmospherics and discrete effects. This is done well and creates an appreciable level of immersion when applied. Over the course of the film there are various sequences (such as the one where Phoebe and Podcast encounter the blue ghost/blob in the abandoned factory, followed by the chase through town) where environmental sounds, music cues and discrete objects are mixed to differing locations in the sound field, adding a head turning element to the viewing experience.a recent watch of, the original film is a must, not only to get a grasp on how this plot connects to that plot but to marvel at how well young star

In the sequel, 'Ghostbusters 2' (1989), the Ghostbusters are struggling to get work as they find themselves being sued by municipal authorities. When a physical embodiment of evil is discovered lurking beneath the city, however, their services are once again required. In 'Ghostbusters' (1984), after their scholastic grant is withdrawn, New York parapsychologists Peter Venkman (Murray), Raymond Stanz (Aykroyd) and Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) decide to go into business as Ghostbusters. Initially scorned, the trio become celebrities after ridding a hotel of a troublesome ghoul and are called in by musician Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) when she experiences strange disturbances in her Central Park apartment. Special Effects: The Ghosts of Afterlife (1080p, 6:29): Exploring the film's new ghost as well as some returning characters: Ghostbusters: Afterlife isn't steeped in sensory overload, instead delivering a surprisingly rustic, rural setting with wide open ranges and vistas. It's a very different look from 80's NYC (undoubtedly a controversial change in and of itself) but it allows the film to arguably better tread the line between the original adventures and this modern instalment as, despite being set in the present time, the setting is more sympathetic towards an old school adventure (c.f. the blandly modern streets of Matrix: Resurrections). The 4K makes the most of these wider shots, absorbing cloud detail and landscape nuances, with a very lived-in feel to the whole environment (that house is a character in and of itself), and a balanced, natural colour scheme that gifts a richness to the brown-dominated scenery, seeking to enhance it rather than make it otherworldly with pop. cognizant to build on that success rather than supplant it or, worse redefine it. The connections to the original are many but they are not forced.yet...familiar without necessarily hiding the familiarity. It knows its franchise history and lore and builds upon the Ghostbusters universe in

The Gearhead's Guide to Ghostbusters Gadgets (1080p, 6:12): Looking at some of the iconic props and some new to this film. Special Effects: The Ghosts of Afterlife– Technology has improved visual effects since the original film came out, we get a look at some of the ghosts, new and old, and their place in the movie. The film has a variety of sequences that make use of close-up camera angles that show off the rendering of detail. The interior sets and CGI featured in the film have appreciable depth which has an enriching, and eye-catching aesthetic. Viewing Ghostbusters: Afterlife in high definition and Ultra HD isn't a night and day experience but, there is no question that it benefitted from the increase in resolution and high dynamic range treatment. Plot: What’s it about? Video: How’s it look? Audio: How’s it sound? Supplements: What are the extras? The Bottom Line Plot: What’s it about? NEW: “Reitman Squared” Scene Commentary – a look at two scenes from the film with Ivan & Jason Reitmanoriginal film's magic, making use of old-fashioned special effects, characters and performances, locations and production design, costumes, and The film was shot with a specific visual aesthetic in mind and that comes through in both its 1080p and Ultra HD presentations. This isn't a colorful film however its palate of sepia tones and variants of blue/red benefited from UHD's wider color gamut, appearing noticeably warmer and pleasing to the eye. Resolution gets a boost with the differences between the UHD and 1080p renderings being appreciable. Close-ups tend to be better refined with resolvable texture on surfaces and physical features being easier to detect. connection to the original film is just right. This is, in many ways, the Ghostbusters franchise answer to The Force Awakens (may whatever follows be better than The Last Jedi!). Afterlife is touching and fun. Its characters
