About this deal

Each and every Member must be of legal drinking age in its country of residence to be allowed to use the Service. If no such law exists in a Member’s country of residence, the Member has to be over 21 years old to use the Service. We have the right to ask you to provide proof of your age and/or to provide further identification to prevent underage usage and/or for any other legal or legitimate purpose. By using the Service, and by creating an account you represent, warrant and confirm that you are of legal age. Interesting to note that Ralfy’s most assigned score is the coveted 90, with over 100 whiskies receiving this notable endorsement. Here we see the blight of the 100-point scale - so much real estate left vacant to the left of 80. The other reason, according to my intuition, is that score inflation softens the blow a bit for a bad review, making the reviewer seem more agreeable, or generally likeable. This explains why almost all scores on the 100-point scale land in the 80s. A feature that Dramface intends to avoid.

We tasted the five primary whiskies in the current core lineup, which are now being imported to the U.S. by ImpEx. Thoughts follow. Nose: Immediately it’s clear that the sherry influence on the 15 year is even bigger than the GlenAllachie 12 year expression. Big butterscotch and raisin, with strong influence of those classic sherry notes. The nose is rich and silky, without being heavy or cloying. Notes of grape, cherry cola, and caramel dance across the nose. Then as the whisky settles into the glass, a distinctive buttered popcorn note takes the stage. As good as it gets from the man who brought us GlenDronach, this is unquestionably another Billy Walker masterclass.

The new GlenAllachie 15 year old, which is now being rolled out across UK and international markets, is described by Master Distiller Billy Walker as the perfect representation of the distillery’s DNA. He believes the 15 year old is an exceptional balance of the distillery’s spirit and the influence of the Sherry casks used during maturation. Finish: While the palate can come off a bit strong at times, the finish is an exercise in restraint. It boasts a medium length finish that lingers with more baking spices and more toasted oak. Not as sweet as the nose or palate, the wood tannins come to the forefront, leaving a drier and more savory balance to an overwise strongly sweet whisky. Along the way, our whisky has been recognised with many awards including four Gold medals for the GlenAllachie 10 year old; a Gold for the 12 year old at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition; and a Double Gold medal for the 18 year old, also at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. For the first 50 years of its existence, GlenAllachie was just another workhorse distillery, spending the majority of its production life under the stewardship of Pernod Ricard who used the spirit in world famous brands such as White Heather, 100 Pipers, Passport, and of course, Chivas Regal. A recent turn of events means its fortunes have changed and the distillery’s malts are finally getting their time in the sun, but more on that in a moment… We're in for a treat because Billy Walker, the Icons of Whisky 2020 Master Distiller of the Year, is renowned for over delivering to the whisky lover and we've brought his long-awaited and hugely anticipated GlenAllachie 15 Year Old to Australia, exclusive to the Club! Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us. GlenAllachie was soon refurbished and relaunched, with an aim to be a ‘truly independent, Scottish-owned and managed’ whisky company, producing a big, fruity malt whisky. Six single cask bottlings made an appearance in April 2018 and were soon followed by GlenAllachie’s first ever core range of single malts in June of that year.
