Therefore it’s important that you use a brake caliper paint that’s designed to cope with the heat and harsh contaminants such as brake dust. If possible, you should also park your car in a garage or covered area just in case it begins to rain. Painting The Brake Calipers Without Removing Them This is an important step — the more time you spend preparing the calipers, the better and neater the finish will be. Firstly, take off the front retainer clip and then cover the bleeder valve using masking tape to protect it. Ensure the valve is completely covered. Overlapping the layers of masking tape may help to prevent paint from leaking into the joins. Then, cover the brake hose fittings with tape too.
