The “Anti-Semitic” label that is being pushed on me is not justified and does not reflect the reality or truth I live in everyday. I embrace and want to learn from all walks of life and religions. The book could be argued to affirm special creation. It says that God by his Son, Jesus Christ, made the worlds. "God [...] hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son [...] by whom also he made the worlds". [59] The epistle also emphasizes the importance of faith. "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear". [60] Christians believe that Jesus is the mediator of the New Covenant. [61] His famous sermon from a hill representing Mount Zion is considered by many Christian scholars to be the antitype [62] of the proclamation of the Old Covenant by Moses from Mount Sinai. You have to be really "OPEN-MINDED" to attempt reading this book and I thoroughly enjoyed all 48 chapters. I love how this book challenges the mind and prompts critical thinking. Those to whom Hebrews is written seem to have begun to doubt whether Jesus could really be the Messiah for whom they were waiting, because they believed the Messiah prophesied in the Hebrew Scriptures was to come as a militant king and destroy the enemies of his people. In contrast, Jesus came as a man of no social standing who was slandered, arrested and condemned by the Jewish leaders and who suffered and was crucified by the Romans. Although he was seen resurrected, he still left the earth and his people, who now faced persecution rather than victory. The Book of Hebrews argues that the Hebrew Scriptures also foretold that the Messiah would be a priest (although of a different sort than the traditional Levitical priests) and Jesus came to fulfill this role, as a sacrificial offering to God, to atone for sins. His role of a king is yet to come, and so those who follow him should be patient and not be surprised that they suffer for now. [55] I appreciate the history presented in this book. Some I was taught as a youngster, but much more is new information to me in regards to the term Ashkenazi Jews. When Nets Dailyasked for a comment last week about Irving promoting the film, the Nets replied: “The Brooklyn Nets strongly condemn and have no tolerance for the promotion of any form of hate speech. We believe that in these situations, our first action must be open, honest dialogue. We thank those, including the ADL, who have been supportive during this time.” Jon, Blistein (October 29, 2022). "Kyrie Irving Boosts Antisemitic Movie Peddling 'Jewish Slave Ships' ". Rolling Stone . Retrieved November 13, 2022. The original King James Version of the Bible titled the work "The Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Hebrews". However, the KJV's attribution to Paul was only a guess, and is currently disputed by recent research. [13] Its vastly different style, different theological focus, different spiritual experience and different Greek vocabulary are all believed to make Paul's authorship of Hebrews increasingly indefensible. At present, modern scholarship does not ascribe Hebrews to Paul. [34] [35] [36] Inscription at Salinelles cemetery, Hebrews 9:27; "After death, judgment." The basketball player later apologized for sharing the film and had also previously committed to donating funds to combat "hate and intolerance." Hoppin, Ruth. The film also amplifies longstanding antisemitic tropes about Jewish power, control and greed, including false claims that Jews control the media, and disputes the identity of modern Jews, claiming they are “religious converts” who descended from the Khazars and have no historical connection to the land of Israel. The Epistle to the Hebrews is notable for the manner in which it expresses the divine nature of Christ. As A.C. Purdy summarized for The Interpreter's Bible: Moffatt, James. Hebrews. To support its claims, the film cites statements from prominent antisemites and notorious antisemitic texts as supposed evidence of the “true” nature and identity of Jewish people. For example, the film includes passages from Henry Ford’s “ The International Jew” and two purported (though seemingly fabricated) quotations from Adolf Hitler.
