About this deal

I’ll say it outright before i begin, I do like Ichi the Killer but I do not recommend it as it is very very disturbing and I feel most people wouldn’t enjoy it, I wouldn't even say i enjoyed it, I just appreciate it but I’d rather not revisit it for a while. Dies Differently in Adaptation: Downplayed. In both the manga and live-action film he fell to his death. In the live-action version, he hallucinated Ichi beheading Takeshi and gets stabbed in the head by him, causing him to fall off the roof of the apartment complex. But the manga has him lose body parts before attempting to run away and dangled on a railing with only a finger left in his hand before a bird defecates on him, causing him to lose his grip and fall to his death. Pay Evil unto Evil: Siccing Ichi on the Yakuza is just about one of the cruelest things he could ever do, but he feels they deserve it for being corrupt thugs. Pet the Dog: Consoling the poor abused prostitute, and even giving her money so she can have her nose fixed. They even have a romantic moment and he promises to kill her abusive pimp for her... that ends badly.

Co-Dragons: They are Kakihara's most trusted enforcers and comrades from his past days, and before Ichi can finally face Kakihara, he has to kill both of them. Koroshiya 1 or Ichi The Killer is a story about a perverted teen with abnormal superhuman strength. In a city filled with crime, it's Ichi's duty to clean up the mess the Yakuza/Japanese Mafia have infected with. Fan Disservice: It's pretty much a guarantee that if someone's naked, be it male or female, they're either doing something really twisted or having something horrific done to them. Case in point: the one time nipples are shown on camera in the film, it's when they're getting cut off.

Noboru

Warning, this story is pretty gore. As I read more works by Yamamoto, Hideo, the more I love his work. He has this exceptional ability of capturing this dark sexual identity in horror. I often find myself relating to a lot of his stories and characters. Ichi is no different, he struggles with his identity and is still very much a kid. I can relate to all the masochism and sadism in this book, and the bullying and pent up fear and anger in oneself. Ichi is a comically terrifying character and I love him, Jiji is also quite the amusement of a character. I

Ichi is basically a film about a loyal yakusa henchman trying to find meaning in his life after his boss has been murdered and a murderer trying to find himself in a labyrinth of deception and lost memories. It is well played and very well made.Tadanobu Asano excels as Kakihara and Nao Omori is extremely good as the violent insane killer Ichi. The special effects has a realistic feel about them and you can almost feel the pain inflicted in this movie and there is plenty of pain to go around. Bully Hunter: In a twisted sense. He couldn't stand up for himself as a child, and as an adult only teaches kids how to stand up to bullies, not hunt them himself. However, he becomes delusional when killing his targets and associates them with the bullies from his past, taking vengeance on them for their cruelty.Butt-Monkey: Fujiwara, the most incompetent member of Kakihara's gang, who gets punishments like ass-raping dead rivals' corpses. Fujiwara is also the only one to abandon the gang, leaving only Kakihara, Saburo and Kaneko behind. This also saves his life. Big Bad: While he is the main point-of-view character in the manga, Kakihara is also the leader of the Yakuza that Ichi and Jijii are trying to take down, making him the leading antagonistic force. Overall Ichi the Killer proved to be one of the most disturbing and gruesome manga ever created, with a twisted story that didn’t make much sense until you get deep into the story. This manga really only served the purpose as a vaccination for extremely, bloody, violent manga because after reading this you’ll never feel a thing when you see like a guy being tortured or decapitated in any other manga. So in the end, this manga is a decent read, but you’ll have to be a violence lover to enjoy this.

Ryou

Secret Test of Character: In Ichi, his fending off a gang of hoodlums and slaughtering them all gave him the opportunity to become a professional hitman, beneath his notice.
